About Gluten-Free English Muffin

Introducing the Gluten-Free English Muffin, a guilt-free and wholesome alternative to the classic English muffin. Who says dietary restrictions equate to boring? With this gluten-free wonder, your mornings (or afternoons and evenings, we don’t judge) can sparkle with the comfort of a familiar English muffin, sans the gluten.

Gluten-Free English Muffin

Our Gluten-Free English Muffin is a culinary delight crafted from a scrumptious blend of gluten-free flour, egg, yeast, olive oil, and a hint of sugar—just enough to elicit that subtle sweetness without overpowering the savory tone. Sprinkle a bit of cornmeal at the right moment, and you have that quintessential English muffin texture, light and springy, ready to absorb anything—from butter to jam, from eggs benedict to triumphant layers of avocado and bacon.

A Wonderful Healthy Twist to the Classic

A dose of Xanthan gum in the mix ensures a dough that’s easy to shape. And if you find Xanthan gum already listed in the ingredients of your gluten-free flour, feel free to skip this step. There’s also warm water that activates the yeast and gets it all nice and frothy—an essential step to get those lovely nooks and crannies we all search for in a true-blue English muffin.

Moreover, if you’ve heard of King Arthur’s Gluten-Free English Muffins, you’ll find our recipe a close kin, sporting a similar texture and taste but with a Your Gourmet Guru twist.

Perfect Pairings

These Gluten-Free English Muffins are remarkably versatile. Warm them up, split, and toast for a crunchy outside and soft, warm interior that marries with melted butter perfectly. Want something more filling? Layer it up as the base for eggs benedict. More in a sandwich mood? These muffins are happy to comply—for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Alternatively, explore pairing it with this delicious English Muffin Pizza recipe. Yes, pizza for breakfast is a thing, a fantastically delightful thing.

So, when the question arises—To gluten or not to gluten?—you know the answer. With our Gluten-Free English Muffin at hand, it’s a hearty, wholehearted “No” to gluten and a triumphant “Yes” to taste.

  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Instant Yeast

ALLERGENS: The ingredients do not specifically list any known common allergens. However, the Gluten-Free Flour Blend might contain allergens depending on the brand and blend used. It’s important to check the specific ingredients of your chosen Gluten-Free Flour Blend for potential allergens.

Method

Step One

Combine the gluten-free flour blend, xanthan gum (if your blend doesn’t already contain it), salt, sugar, and instant yeast in a large bowl. Mix these ingredients until they are well blended together.

Step Two

In a separate container, mix together the warm water and olive oil, then gradually add this liquid mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring as you pour to ensure a smooth batter.

Step Three

Beat the egg in a separate bowl until it’s fully scrambled, then add it into the batter. Continue to stir until all the ingredients are combined. The final batter should be thick and smooth.

Step Four

Grease your English muffin rings or tins with vegetable oil or nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle the insides of the rings/tins with yellow cornmeal.

Step Five

Spoon the batter into the prepared rings/tins, filling each one about halfway to allow room for the muffins to rise.

Step Six

Set the rings/tins in a warm, draft-free area and allow the batter to rise until it reaches the tops of the rings/tins, which should take about 20 to 30 minutes.

Step Seven

While the batter is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the batter has fully risen, place the rings/tins in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step Eight

Remove the muffins from the oven and carefully remove them from the rings/tins. Allow them to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Enjoy your homemade gluten-free English muffins.
