The moment I tasted the Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon, I knew immediately this was a recipe I had to share with everyone. The balance of citrus, smoky grilling, and the pleasantly bitter hint from the costmary not only evokes fond memories of family cookouts back in Charleston, South Carolina but also successfully marries the southern and coastal flavors I’m known for.

Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon

Merging Traditions

This salmon recipe is grilled to perfection, just like the barbecues common in my Southern upbringing. However, unlike the rich, deep flavors often associated with southern cuisine, the Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon boasts a light, fresh palette reminiscent of seafood enjoyed after a day of surfing Charleston’s waves. The recipe is similar to a lemon-pepper salmon, but the addition of costmary provides a unique twist.

A Health-Conscious Feast

Not only is this recipe absolutely delicious, it’s also a healthy option for those conscious about their diet. Salmon is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, high in protein, loaded with B-vitamins, and may reduce the risk of heart disease. Paired with lemon, a great source of vitamin C, this dish is as wholesome as it is satisfying.

A Versatile Dish

The Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon works remarkably well with a variety of side dishes. Try it with a light salad, earthy roasted vegetables or even alongside traditional Southern favorites like fluffy biscuits and corn-on-the-cob for a truly memorable meal.

This is a recipe that embodies everything I love about food – tradition, the marriage of distinctive flavors, and the joy of sharing something truly special. It’s not just a plate of food, but a testament to the fact that delicious and healthy can coexist beautifully. So, fire up that grill and let the aroma of the Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon fill the air!

What You’ll Need

  • 6 Salmon Fillets (6-8 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 6 sprigs of Fresh Costmary
  • 1 Lemon, sliced thinly
  • 1 Lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
ALLERGENS: Fish

Method

Step One

Begin by preheating your grill to a medium-high heat. While the grill is heating, prepare the salmon fillets. Drizzle the fillets with the olive oil and season them on both sides with the salt and black pepper.

Step Two

Arrange costmary sprigs on one side of each salmon fillet. Place the salmon (costmary-side down) on the preheated grill.

Step Three

Grill the salmon for around 4-5 minutes, or until the fish is opaque halfway up the sides. Carefully flip each fillet, then continue grilling for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through. Remember, fish should generally be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.

Step Four

While the salmon is grilling, make the lemon and honey drizzle. Combine the lemon zest, lemon juice, and honey in a small saucepan. Stir well to combine, then heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm.

Step Five

Once the salmon is fully cooked, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a few moments. Drizzle the warm lemon-honey mixture over the salmon before serving.

Step Six

Finally, garnish the salmon fillets with the thinly sliced lemon and serve immediately. Enjoy your Grilled Salmon with Costmary and Lemon!
