What You’ll Need

  • 2 large yams (about 2 pounds), peeled and diced
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Step One

In a large pot, heat the olive oil and unsalted butter over medium heat.

Allow the soup to heat through over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5-10 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
