What You’ll Need

  • 1/2 cup of warm water (110°F)
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup of warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon of white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 3 to 4 cups of bread flour
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds

Method

Step One

Start by combining the warm water and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast is dissolved and begins to foam.

Step Two

Add the warm milk, sugar, salt and vegetable oil into the yeast mixture. Stir until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved.

Step Three

Gradually add in the bread flour one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. Continue adding flour until a soft dough forms.

Step Four

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic. Add more flour if needed to prevent sticking.

Step Five

Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to coat all sides. Cover with a clean cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. This will take about an hour.

Step Six

Punch the dough down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a rounded roll and place them on a greased baking sheet. Cover the rolls and let them rise again until they double in size, about 30 minutes.
