If there’s one thing I adore the most about exploring international cuisines, it’s discovering the world through flavors. One such gem that I’ve fallen in love with is the Badam and Chironji Milkshake —a rejuvenating and luscious blend that’s just as indulgent as my traditional Creole desserts or French éclairs. From the evocative aroma of cardamom that strikes your senses, to the enticing blend of almonds, Chironji seeds and vanilla ice cream, this delightful shake reminds me of Louisiana’s summertime.
Indulgence and Nutritional Balance in Each Sip
Apart from its creamy deliciousness, what makes the Badam and Chironji Milkshake truly special is its balance of indulgence and nutrition. I’ve learned from my ancestors that food should not only taste good but also nourish our bodies. This shake perfectly embodies that philosophy. Almonds, also known as Badam, are naturally loaded with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fibers. They help reduce heart disease risks, contain healthy fats, and are known to aid in weight loss. Similarly, Chironji seeds add a unique nutty flavor and are packed with proteins, vitamins, omega-6 fatty acids, and carbohydrates. They are often used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine for their health benefits including improving digestion and boosting the immune system. The addition of cardamom not only enhances the flavor but also provides its own range of health benefits such as aiding digestion and lowering blood pressure.
The Perfect Partner for Your Favorite Dishes
The Badam and Chironji Milkshake isn’t just fantastic on its own, it beautifully complements other dishes too. I’ve found it creates a delightful contrast when paired with spicy cuisines. Be it Indian biryani, Thai green curry, or even Louisiana’s own jambalaya, this milkshake creates a refreshing balance. Furthermore, its creaminess pairs wonderfully with desserts, making it a perfect accompaniment for your beignets or éclairs, just as the sweet honey drizzled baklava from Mediterranean cuisine or even the spicy Mexican churros could make a delightful combo.
All in all, cooking (or in this case, blending) should be a pleasurable experience, rather than a chore. The Badam and Chironji Milkshake, with its sweet, nutty flavors, and potential health benefits is not just a feast for your taste buds, but also for your soul.
What You’ll Need
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of almonds (badam)
- 1/4 cup of Chironji Seeds
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 6 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder
- 1 cup of water
- 6 cherries for garnish
Method
Step One
Soak the almonds (badam) and chironji seeds in a cup of water for about 30 minutes.
Step Two
After soaking, drain the water and peel off the skin of the almonds. Add the peeled almonds and soaked chironji seeds into a blender.
Step Three
Add half a cup of sugar to the blender. You may adjust the quantity to your taste. Blend until you get a fine paste.
Step Four
Add the 2 cups of milk to the blender along with the almond and chironji paste. Blend again until everything is well combined.
Step Five
Then, add the vanilla ice cream to the blender. Blend again until it becomes smooth and frothy.
Step Six
Next, add the cardamom powder to the blender. Give it one more quick blend to mix everything together.
Step Seven
Pour the milkshake into serving glasses. Garnish each glass of milkshake with a cherry. Serve immediately and enjoy your Badam and Chironji Milkshake!
