This dish, imbued with the flavors of hearty Italian sausages, earthy artichokes, and the comforting familiarity of potatoes, is reminiscent of the evenings spent in the warm company of my grandparents’ kitchen.

The Ingredients

The thing about this baked sausage recipe is that it really shines with its juxtaposition of textures and flavors. With Italian sausages that taste like a bite of nostalgia, melded with the comforting flavors of tenderly baked potatoes, and the tangy delights of artichokes, this dish is nothing short of a celebration of hearty Italian-American cuisine. Inspiration Behind the Recipe

My grandparents’ passion for cooking and love for their Italian heritage is what led me to create recipes like Baked Sausages with Artichokes and Potatoes. Although it wasn’t directly inspired by any particular chef, its heart lies in the home-inspired cooking of my Italian ancestors. The use of traditional Italian ingredients like artichokes, Italian sausage, and olive oil conjures up the imagery of a small eatery in Italy where recipes pass down generations and food ties everyone together.

As I’ve grown older and become a grandfather myself, I’ve come to understand how crucial these recipes are – not only because they taste divine, but because they’re a way to keep my family’s history alive. They’re a testament to my Italian roots, a nod towards the times when I was a tiny tot brightly looking up at my grandma as she skillfully maneuvered her magic in the kitchen. And now, they’re a culinary legacy that I’m passing onto my grandchildren, so they too can keep the flame of tradition aglow.

I hope you’ll leverage my recipe as an inspiration in your own kitchen and create your own family favorites. Enjoy!

What You’ll Need

  • 6 Italian sausages
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 10 baby artichokes, cleaned and halved
  • 6 cloves of garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of white wine
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 lemon, juiced
ALLERGENS: Wheat, Soy, Milk

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step Two

In a large baking tray, place the Italian sausages, diced potatoes, and baby artichokes. The ingredients should be spread evenly along the tray to allow for even cooking.

Step Three

Add the minced garlic to the tray, ensuring it is evenly distributed over the other ingredients. Next, drizzle the entire contents of the tray with olive oil.

Step Four

Season the ingredients with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle over the dried rosemary and dried thyme.

Step Five

Pour the white wine evenly over the tray. The wine will help to keep the ingredients moist and add depth of flavour to the dish.

Step Six

Place the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the sausages are well browned and fully cooked, and the potatoes and artichokes are tender.

Step Seven

Remove the tray from the oven. Sprinkle the dish with the chopped fresh parsley and drizzle with the lemon juice.

Step Eight

Allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will enable the flavours to meld together. Your Baked Sausages with Artichokes and Potatoes is now ready to be enjoyed!
