What You’ll Need

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
ALLERGENS: Wheat, Gluten

Method

Step One

Combine 4 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons instant yeast, 2 teaspoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Give it a good mix.

Step Two

Create a well in the middle of the dry ingredients. Pour in 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 1/2 cups warm water into the well. Begin to mix the ingredients together, starting from the inner part of the well and slowly pulling in the dry ingredients.

Step Three

Once the ingredients are combined, knead the dough on a floured surface. Knead until you have a smooth and pliable dough, usually for about 5-10 minutes.

Step Four

Place the dough back into the bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step Five

After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step Six

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Roll each ball of dough into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick. Cook each piece of dough in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Step Seven

Remove the cooked Bazlama from the skillet and keep them covered with a clean kitchen towel to keep them soft.
