Why I Love Chinese Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice

Beggar's Beef Fried Rice

As a testament to my deep-rooted love for diversified cuisines, experimenting with recipes outside of my comfort zone has always been a joyful journey. The delightful fusion of flavors in the Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice is a testament to this adventurous culinary spirit.

A Melting Pot of Flavors

Inspired by the East, Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice has an exotic allure that stimulates your taste buds in ways unimaginable. It’s the comforts of home, but together with the novelty of the unfamiliar. It’s the beguiling allure of Chef Gordon Ramsay’s Asian culinary adventures that managed to inspire me in creating this wonderful dish. It’s similar to the traditional fried rice we’re all familiar with, yet it brings its own unique twist to the table, making it absolutely irresistible.

Farm Fresh Ingredients To Your Plate

Even though the Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice comes from a different culinary tradition, the principles of using fresh, high-quality ingredients remain the same. Just like the corn casseroles and beef stews that I grew up with, the ingredients of this fried rice are designed to bring maximum flavor and nutritional value. With the fragrant aroma of jasmine rice, thinly sliced beef laced with savory sauces, and a colorful medley of veggies, the final result is a dish that takes you on a culinary voyage right in your kitchen.

The Perfect Pairing

The Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice is delightful enough to stand alone as your main course. Yet, it can also be paired beautifully with Sweet and Sour Chicken or a simple bowl of Thai Peanut Sauce over roasted veggies. This versatility makes it an appealing option for both weekday dinners and weekend get-togethers.

Whether you’re feeding your large family or impressing your guests, this exotic Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice will add a delightful surprise to your culinary repertoire and my only hope is that you enjoy making it as much as I do.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups of jasmine rice
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 lb of beef, thinly sliced
  • 5 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 medium size onion, diced
  • 1 cup of frozen peas and carrots
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
ALLERGENS: Soy, Shellfish, Eggs

Method

Step One:

First, cook the Jasmine rice with the water, following the instructions on the package. Once it’s done, set it aside and let it cool completely.

Step Two:

In a bowl, marinate the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, the sugar, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Set it aside.

Step Three:

In a large skillet or wok, heat up the vegetable oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic and diced onion until they become fragrant and the onion is translucent.

Step Four:

Add the frozen peas and carrots to the skillet, cook until they are heated through. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and pour the beaten eggs onto the other side. Stir to scramble the eggs, then mix everything together.

Step Five:

Add the marinated beef to the skillet. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through.

Step Six:

Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix well. Stir in the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Season with salt and white pepper.

Step Seven:

Finally, add the chopped green onions, give everything one final stir, then remove the skillet from the heat. The Beggar’s Beef Fried Rice is ready to be served.
