What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, cold
  • 3/4 cup of milk

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Step Two

Take the 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter and cut it into small cubes. Add these cubes to your flour mixture. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture starts to look like coarse crumbs.

Step Three

Gradually pour the 3/4 cup of milk into the flour and butter mixture. Stir slowly until just combined – do not over-mix. The dough should be a bit sticky but still manageable.
