As a Miami resident deeply entrenched in the vibrant culinary scene of my Cuban and Spanish heritage, my heart delights in the dance of flavors from the Caribbean and the authenticity of Spanish classics. But that doesn’t mean I shy away from exploring and experimenting with diverse culinary traditions. This light and luscious Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry, for example, is a delightful testament to that.

Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry

A Rich Fusion of Flavors

The Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry is an intriguing play of vibrant tastes and colors that bring together the tender juiciness of beef sirloin with the crisp freshness of bell peppers and onions. It’s a dish that joyously celebrates the amalgamation of zesty spices and succulent vegetables, all brought together by a delicate kiss of olive oil. There’s a certain vivaciousness associated with stir fry recipes that resonates well with my tropical culinary aesthetic, making this dish a particular favorite of mine.

Healthful and Bursting with Nutrients

While the varied flavors and textures of this recipe are reasons enough to seal its place in my kitchen repertoire, its considerable health benefits can’t be overlooked. The bell peppers add a generous dose of vitamin C to your meal, boosting immunity and promoting skin health. Meanwhile, the lean cut of beef sirloin provides high-quality protein essential for muscle growth and recovery. Garlic and ginger, apart from spicing things up a notch, carry valuable anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. And let’s not forget the heart-healthy benefits of olive oil that underline why the Mediterranean diet is hailed globally.

Similar Delights and Exciting Pairings

If you’re a fan of Asian flavors, this recipe will likely remind you of popular classics like Pepper Steak or Mongolian Beef, albeit with a lighter and more colorful turnout. As for the perfect side to accompany this stir fry, I recommend a bowl of steamed jasmine rice or stir-fried uchoy for a healthful touch. Alternatively, take your culinary adventure up a notch by pairing it with Japanese Tonkatsu or some Korean Seafood Pancake.

The true joy of cooking, as I believe, lies not just in the delightful tastes and tantalizing aromas, but also in the spirited dance of ingredients, the vibrant narratives of cultures, and the love embedded in every stir, every chop, and every bite. And this Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry captures that joy beautifully.

What You’ll Need

  • 1.5 pounds of beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 table spoon of olive oil
  • 2 cups of mixed bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of minced ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
ALLERGENS: soy, garlic, cornstarch, beef

Method

Step One

Take 1.5 pounds of thinly sliced beef sirloin and season it with salt and ground black pepper. Ensure to coat the beef evenly with the seasoning.

Step Two

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add the seasoned beef to the pan. Cook until it is no longer pink, roughly around 5 minutes, and then remove it from the pan and set it aside.

Step Three

In the same pan, add the thinly sliced mixed bell peppers, red onion, minced garlic cloves, and minced ginger. Stir fry these ingredients for about 2-3 minutes until the veggies are tender.

Step Four

In a separate bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of cornstarch, 1/2 cup of beef broth, and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. This will create the stir fry sauce for the dish.

Step Five

Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables. Add the stir fry sauce to the pan and stir everything together. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes so that the beef and vegetables are coated well with the sauce.

Step Six

Finally, garnish the dish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy your Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry while it’s hot!
