  • 3 cups of boiling water
  • 3 lemons, juiced
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 6 cups of cold water
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • Lemon slices for garnishing
  • Mint leaves for garnishing

Method

Step One

Start by taking 2 tablespoons of dried Blue Butterfly Pea Flowers and steep them in 3 cups of boiling water. Make sure to cover and let it sit for about 10 to 20 minutes until the water has turned a deep blue color.

Step Two

While the flowers are steeping, juice 3 lemons. It should result in about half to three-quarters of a cup of fresh lemon juice. Set this aside for later.

Step Three

In a large pitcher, dissolve 1 cup of granulated sugar in 6 cups of cold water. Stir it well until all the sugar is dissolved.

Step Four

When all the sugar has dissolved, add your fresh lemon juice to the pitcher. Mix well.

Step Five

Strain the Blue Butterfly Pea Flowers, discarding the flowers. Then slowly pour the steeped blue tea into the lemonade mixture. As you do this, you will see the color of your lemonade change from blue to an enchanting purple due to the acidity of the lemon juice.

Step Six

Add 1 cup of crushed ice to the pitcher and mix well. This will make the lemonade chilled and more refreshing.
