What You’ll Need
- 2 lbs Broadleaf Arrowhead fruit
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 green onions, chopped
Method
Step One
Start by rinsing the Broadleaf Arrowhead fruit thoroughly under running water. Peel and cut them into halves or quarters, if they are large.
Step Two
In a large pan, heat up the cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic to the pan. Stir continuously for about a minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Step Three
Add the Broadleaf Arrowhead fruits into the pan. Stir frequently to ensure all the pieces are evenly coated with the garlic and oil. Cook for about 5 minutes until they start to turn golden brown.
Step Four
Add the soy sauce, sugar, and salt to the pan. Stir well to make sure everything is mixed together.
Step Five
Pour the water into the pan. Cover it and let everything simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. During this time, the Broadleaf Arrowhead fruits will get soft and absorb the flavors of the garlic and soy sauce.
Step Six
After 15-20 minutes, remove the lid and let the dish continue to cook for another 5 minutes. This process allows the sauce to reduce and thicken. Stir occasionally during this time.
Step Seven
Once the sauce has reduced and the Arrowhead fruits are soft, remove the pan from heat. Sprinkle the chopped green onions on top of the dish for added freshness and color. Serve the Braised Broadleaf Arrowhead fruit warm as a side dish.
