My affection for the Cao Guo Tea Blend for Digestion stems back to my root connection with nature – the warm embrace of the majestic Rockies and the fresh, crisp air of Colorado. The tranquil scenery and the robust flavor of game meats and trout dishes I grew up cooking encapsulate my vision for a nutritious, hearty meal.
The Unique Flavor Profile
This recipe holds a special place in my heart because of how flawlessly it marries the exotic and tangy flavor of Cao Guo – Tsaoko fruit – with the distinctive sweetness of hawthorn berries and the freshness of ginger and dried orange peel. It resurrects memories of those chilly Colorado nights under the stars with Gordon – my partner – when nothing else seemed more appealing than a hot and satisfying brew.
Health Plus Taste: An Unexpected Duo
The primary reason why I love the Cao Guo Tea Blend for Digestion is its unbeatable health benefits. This concoction is not just a delightful beverage, it could also counter indigestion which makes it a companion for every home-made hearty mountain fare. The health benefits of green tea adds an extra layer of vitality to this warming brew, and a touch of honey ties it all together, providing a hint of natural sweetness while boosting your health.
This drink pairs superbly with various dishes. Its fruity taste matches perfectly with something savoury and rustic, such as grilled trout, or even venison steak. It also works beautifully in harmony with lighter fare, perhaps a vibrant fruit salad on a warm day, refreshing the palate between every bite.
I believe that a good recipe holds the power to connect us to the land, to our health, and to each other. So give it a try and experience this healthy and delicious drink that is so much more than just a cup of tea.
What You’ll Need
- 6 cups of hot water
- 3 tablespoons of dried Cao Guo (Tsaoko fruit)
- 1 1/2 cup of dried hawthorn berries
- 1 tablespoon of dried orange peel
- 2 slices of fresh ginger
- 6 individual bags of green tea
- 1/4 cup of honey, or to taste
Method
Step One
Begin by thoroughly rinsing the dried Cao Guo, dried hawthorn berries, dried orange peel, and fresh ginger under cold water.
Step Two
In a large pot, bring the 6 cups of water to a boil. Once it is boiling, add in the rinsed ingredients. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
Step Three
After the ingredients have simmered, add the 6 bags of green tea to the pot. Let them steep in the hot water for 3-5 minutes, depending on your taste preference.
Step Four
Once the green tea has steeped, remove the pot from the heat. Carefully remove and discard the green tea bags and other ingredients from the pot. You can do this by straining the tea into another container.
Step Five
Stir in the honey until it is completely dissolved. Adjust the amount of honey based on your sweetness preference. You may add more if you’d like.
Step Six
Allow the tea to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy this Cao Guo Tea blend for its digestive benefits any time of the day.
