Chili Zedoary Sauce for Pasta

A Symphony of Flavors

This isn’t just in sync with the rustic mountain lifestyle but also brings a symphony of flavors akin to a comforting bowl of spicy pasta or your favorite hearty chili. The cherry-red chili peppers, the fresh turmeric or zedoary, the fragrant garlic and herbs — all simmering together — are a testament to the beautiful complexity that is this marvelous sauce. The result is a dish that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the most complex pasta recipes out there, yet remarkably accessible and refreshingly unique.

Moreover, this pasta sauce with zedoary and chili is somewhat similar to the hearty Lasagna Soup recipe. I recommend you serve this Chili Zedoary Sauce over any pasta of your choice and pair it with a side of crunchy garlic bread, much like you would with the traditional Bolognese sauce or your favorite marinara!

Healthy and Hearty

The health benefits of this Chili Zedoary Sauce for Pasta are numerous. The star ingredient – Zedoary, a close relative to my beloved turmeric, is known for its natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Regular intake may boost digestion, reduce pain, and even ward off certain types of cancer. Moreover, the use of olive oil, an excellent source of healthy monounsaturated fats, and the fresh lemon juice stockpiled with vitamin C, makes this a fitting dish for the health-focused gourmand.

Regarding the flavor, it’s a spicy twist on your regular pasta sauce, mingled with a slight bitterness from the zedoary and the tanginess of the tomatoes. A love song to the tastebuds, if there ever was one. So, if you’re in search of a robust, generous pasta sauce that comforts like a warm bear hug on a cold mountain night, this Chili Zedoary Sauce for Pasta is the recipe to make your new staple.

What You’ll Need

  • 1/2 cup Diced Tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped Zedoary (Fresh turmeric)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Large Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Red Chili, de-seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried Chili Flakes
  • 1 cup Vegetable broth
  • 1 cup Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Basil Leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Leaves, finely chopped
  • 12 ounces Pasta of choice
ALLERGENS: Pasta (gluten), Garlic

Method

Step One

Start by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions. While the pasta is cooking, you can start making the sauce.

Step Two

In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté the ingredients until they are soft and slightly golden, this should take about 5 minutes.

Step Three

Add the finely chopped zedoary to the pan, and let it cook for another 2 minutes. Then add the diced tomatoes, chopped red chili, and dried chili flakes. Stir the ingredients together to fully integrate the flavors.

Step Four

Pour in the vegetable broth, fresh lemon juice, and sugar. After mixing the ingredients well, season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Step Five

Let the sauce simmer on a low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the tomatoes are broken down and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

Step Six

Once the sauce is ready, stir in the finely chopped fresh basil and parsley. Keep some leaves aside for garnish later.

Step Seven

Drain the cooked pasta and return it back to the pot. Carefully pour the chili zedoary sauce over the pasta and toss to evenly coat the pasta in the sauce.

Step Eight

Serve the pasta warm, curated with extra fresh parsley and basil for a splash of color and fresh flavor. Your Chili Zedoary pasta is ready to enjoy.
