Whenever I prepare a batch of my Cucumber and Lemon Ironbark Infused Water, I’m hit with a wave of nostalgia that takes me right back to those long summer days spent with my grandparents in our family’s backyard in New Jersey. My Italian lineage means food and family have always been intertwined, and this simple, refreshing beverage is no exception. Although this recipe may not include the robust flavors commonly found in my spaghetti or meatballs, the principle of using fresh, quality ingredients remains key.

The beauty of this Cucumber and Lemon Ironbark Infused Water lies in its simplicity and versatility. Bursting with the vibrancy of ripe lemons and the cooling solace of crisp cucumber slices, this drink is the perfect antidote for a hot summer day or a fitting accompaniment with an overwhelmingly flavorful dish. I’ve found it works particularly well with spicy foods, as it has a soothing characteristic that can tame even the fiercest of heat. Meanwhile, the addition of Ironbark honey lends a subtle floral sweetness that calls to mind the idyllic days spent hiking in the countryside.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 large cucumbers
  • 6 fresh lemons
  • 1 cup of Ironbark honey
  • 2 quarts of water
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
ALLERGENS:

Method

Step One

Start by slicing your cucumbers and lemons thinly. Then, in a large pitcher, combine the cucumber and lemon slices.

Step Two

Pour the Ironbark honey into the pitcher. If the Ironbark honey is thick, you may want to microwave it for a few seconds to liquefy it. This will make it easier to mix.

Step Three

Add the water to the pitcher. You can use cold or room-temperature water, but cold water will help the flavors infuse more quickly.

Step Four

Add the ice cubes into the pitcher. This will help the water stay cool and fresh. Then, stir everything together until the honey is fully dissolved in the water.

Step Five

Refrigerate the infused water for at least two hours before serving. This will give the cucumber and lemon flavors time to permeate the water. You can leave it overnight for a stronger flavor.

Step Six

When you’re ready to serve the water, stir it well to distribute the flavors. Pour it over ice in glass and enjoy the refreshing taste of Cucumber and Lemon Ironbark Infused Water.
