What You’ll Need

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups gluten-free all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum (omit if your flour blend already contains it)
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
ALLERGENS: eggs

Method

Step One

To start off, combine the warm water and sugar in a bowl. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. After that, sprinkle in the active dry yeast and let it sit for a few minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step Two

In a separate large bowl, whisk together the gluten-free all purpose flour, salt, and xanthan gum (skip this if your flour blend already includes xanthan gum).

Step Three

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add in the yeast mixture, egg whites, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar. Mix these together until a dough forms.

Step Four

Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it until it becomes smooth and elastic. Shape the dough into a baguette form and place it on a lined baking sheet.

Step Five

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Place the dough in the oven and bake it for approximately 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the internal temperature reads 210 degrees Fahrenheit (99 degrees Celsius).

Step Six

Lastly, remove the baguette from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, enjoy your freshly baked gluten-free baguette!
