What You’ll Need

  • 1 1/2 cups Gluten-Free All Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy)

  • 1 teaspoon Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 large Egg (or Flax Egg for Vegan)

Method

Step One

Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a baking sheet or a piece of parchment paper on your working surface, this will be used later on for rolling the dough.

Step Two

Prepare your flax egg if you’re making the vegan version of this recipe. Simply mix 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal with 3 tablespoons of water and let it sit for around 5 minutes to thicken.

Step Three

In a large bowl, mix together the gluten-free all-purpose flour, xanthan gum, and salt. Make sure the ingredients are well combined.

Step Four

In a separate smaller bowl, whisk together the egg (or prepared flax egg), milk, olive oil, cider vinegar, honey (or agave nectar) and water. Use a whisk to ensure all the wet ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Step Five

Gradually pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients while stirring. Continue to mix until a sticky dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little bit more water.

Step Six

Transfer the dough onto your prepared baking sheet or parchment paper. Use another piece of parchment paper to cover the dough, and then roll it out as thin as you can without creating any holes.

Step Seven

Remove the top layer of parchment paper. If you want to, you can score the dough to create the traditional lavash bread shape and size.

Step Eight

Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for around 10-15 minutes, or until the lavash bread is crisp and slightly golden in color.

Step Nine

Once baked, remove the lavash bread from the oven and let it cool before serving. Enjoy your gluten-free lavash bread with dips, spreads, or as a substitute for any dish that requires bread.
