About Gluten-Free Skillet Bread

Welcome to Your Gourmet Guru! We are thrilled to share the secrets of our phenomenal Gluten-Free Skillet Bread today. This superbly delicious bread is an all-star – perfect for those living a gluten-free lifestyle, or even just for those looking for a new and exciting addition to their baking repertoire!

Our Gluten-Free Skillet Bread is a versatile star player in the realm of baking. It functions as a wonderful standalone or can be served alongside a plethora of dishes. This bread is all the ones you love — soft and fluffy on the inside, crusty and golden on the outside, all in one. But, the real kicker? It’s completely gluten-free.

A Look at Our Ingredients

While we won’t list the ingredients here (you’ll find them in another section of the page), let’s highlight what sets our bread apart. We use a combination of gluten-free all-purpose flour and xanthan gum which gives the bread its characteristic texture. The use of cider vinegar and baking powder ensures the bread has that lightness, that airiness that is reminiscent of the traditional loaves. This delightful loaf is baked with love, care and attention to detail, with every ingredient measured to ensure each bite is perfect.

Dishes to Pair With

If you’re wondering what to pair this Gluten-Free Skillet Bread with, the possibilities are nearly endless. It’s perfect as a delicious accompaniment for your morning eggs or that hearty stew for dinner. Looking for something more luxurious? Try using this bread as a base for a decadent Baked Brie en Croute with Apple Compote. Or, spread with a pat of butter or a spoonful of honey for a simple, yet delightful treat.

This bread draws parallels with a traditional unleavened skillet bread or Irish Soda Bread. Although it’s a completely distinct recipe, those familiar with other types of skillet breads, such as the southern American Cornbread, might find our Gluten-Free Skillet Bread comfortingly familiar in execution and heartwarming in taste.

Whether you’re a seasoned chef or an intrepid kitchen explorer, we invite you to dive into the adventure that is making our Gluten-Free Skillet Bread. Happy baking!

What You’ll Need

  • 1.5 cups of gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons of xanthan gum (if not already included in the flour)
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 cup of warm milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar
  • Extra melted butter for brushing the bread
ALLERGENS: Milk, Eggs, Butter

Method

Step One

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups of gluten-free all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, xanthan gum (if your flour did not already include it), and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until they are fully incorporated.

Step Two

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and cider vinegar. Make sure to mix it well until it forms a homogeneous liquid mixture.

Step Three

Now, gradually add the liquid mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients, stirring consistently to avoid the formation of lumps. Keep mixing until a smooth batter is formed.

Step Four

Pour the batter into a 10-inch cast-iron skillet. If you do not have a cast-iron skillet, any oven-proof skillet will do. Spread the mixture evenly across the bottom of the skillet.

Step Five

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius). Put the skillet into the oven and bake your bread for 20-25 minutes.

Step Six

You will know that the bread is done when it becomes golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step Seven

Remove your skillet from the oven and let the bread cool for a few minutes. Before serving, brush it with some additional melted butter. Your gluten-free skillet bread is now ready to enjoy with your meal.
