The Gluten-Free White Bread is also reminiscent of the classic Sandwich bread, and, like its gluten-rich cousin, it too pairs seamlessly with a potpourri of spreads, cold cuts, and cheeses. Understanding Ingredients

For those who are unfamiliar, Xanthan Gum is the key replacement for gluten in this recipe. Derived from a type of bacteria, it’s often used as a thickening and stabilizing agent in gluten-free baked goods, mimicking the properties of gluten. A tip for the dairy-evadors, the milk can be substituted with a non-dairy alternative for similar results.

Creating the Perfect Slice

The secret behind achieving the soft, flexible slices is the perfect harmony amongst the flour, yeast, milk, and eggs. Despite the attestable simplicity of the ingredients, their amalgamation yields a complex, satisfying flavor. The butter and sugar further charm the palate, elevating the bread into a delicate luxury.

The white color is achieved by utilizing an all-purpose Gluten-Free Flour. This, coupled with the buttery undertones and hints of vanilla, create an intricate taste composition that’s both familiar and distinctly unique.

The Versatility of Gluten-Free White Bread

Where does the Gluten-Free White Bread shine the brightest? Well, we’d be hard-pressed to limit its prowess. It makes a spectacular base for French toast, providing a whole new dimension to the classic Egg and Bread breakfast dish. You could go the Italian way and think Bruschetta, topping it with fresh tomatoes, basil, and a good quality olive oil.

You know what else? It’s also exceptional when simply toasted with a smear of butter, or a thick layer of creamy (or crunchy, if you sway that way) peanut butter! Whichever way you choose to consume it, we assure you this Gluten-Free White Bread will not disappoint.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 1/2 cups Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 3 teaspoons Xanthan Gum
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 1 cup warm Milk (about 110°F)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted Butter, melted
  • 3 large Eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
ALLERGENS: Milk, Eggs, Butter

Method

Step One

Start by gathering all your ingredients. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.

Step Two

In a large bowl, combine your gluten-free all-purpose flour, sugar, xanthan gum, salt, and instant yeast. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.

Step Three

Slowly mix in the warm milk to the dry ingredients. Be sure the milk is warm but not hot – about 110°F (43°C) is ideal.

Step Four

Add the melted butter to your mixture. Make sure the butter has cooled down a bit before you add it, you don’t want to cook your eggs when you add them next.

Step Five

Beat the eggs, then add them into your mixture followed by the vinegar and vanilla extract. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined. This will be your bread batter.

Step Six

Pour your bread batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Step Seven

Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step Eight

Once done, allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your homemade gluten-free white bread!
