From the heart of the bayous to the luxury of a Parisian patisserie, my culinary journey has always oscillated between the ardent Creole flavors of my Louisiana childhood and the suave elegance of my French heritage. Today, I bring to you a recipe that feels like a warm, comforting embrace – the Golden Turmeric Milk. A mélange of flavorsome spices and succulent fruit, this delightful concoction is a testament to the transformative power of simple ingredients.

A Healthful Detour

Golden Turmeric Milk

Wrapped comfortably in the robustness of turmeric, the sweetness of honey, and the subtle tones of various spices, Golden Turmeric Milk is as much a treat for the body as it is for the palate. Turmeric, in particular, is a veritable powerhouse of health benefits. Thanks to its primary active component, curcumin, this vibrant spice is known to have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The addition of black pepper not only adds an unexpected kick but also exponentially enhances the absorption of curcumin. Coupled with the vitamin-rich assortment of fruits and the wholesome goodness of almond milk, this beverage truly becomes a delicious pathway to good health!

Unraveling the Flavor Tapestry

Each sip of this Golden Turmeric Milk unravels a new layer of taste. The alien yet harmonious mix of spices might remind you of a traditional Indian drink, “Turmeric Latte”, also known as “Indian Gold Milk.” It’s also reminiscent of the wholesome Chai Spiced Almond Milk with a refreshing fruity twist. Relish it as a standalone elixir to warm up cold nights or pair it up with a slice of rich, delectable apple spice cake for a truly indulgent experience.

Empowered with the magic of spices and the allure of fruits, a glass of this Golden Turmeric Milk becomes a delightful culinary voyage. Go on, whip up a batch, and I promise the blend of warmth, wellness, and flavor will swoon your senses all over. Bon Appétit!

What You’ll Need

  • 6 cups of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground turmeric
  • 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of honey or sweetener of choice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
  • 2 1/4 cups of diced mixed fruit (mango, pineapple, apple etc.)
ALLERGENS: Tree nuts (almond)

Method

Step One

Begin by pouring the 6 cups of unsweetened almond milk into a saucepan and heating it over medium heat.

Step Two

Once the almond milk is warming, add the 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground turmeric to the saucepan and stir well.

Step Three

Add the 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons of honey or sweetener of choice, the 1 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir all of the ingredients until they are well combined.

Step Four

Next, add 1 tablespoon of ground ginger to the mixture and stir well to combine.

Step Five

Heat the mixture until it is just about to boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. This will allow all the flavors to meld together.

Step Six

While the milk mixture is simmering, prepare the mixed fruit. Dice enough fruit to make 2 1/4 cups. You can use any combination of mango, pineapple, apple, etc.

Step Seven

Once the golden milk has simmered for 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the diced mixed fruit and let it steep in the warm milk for a few minutes before serving.

Step Eight

Finally, pour the golden turmeric milk into mugs and enjoy! You can serve this drink warm or let it cool down and chill it in the fridge for a refreshing cold drink.
