I confess, my love affair with the ‘Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops’ recipe wasn’t exactly that of love at first sight. Being born and brought up in sunny California, as many of you know by now from my bio, my go-to recipes were usually edible epitomes of health-consciousness. Fresh avocado toasts, hearty salads, and wine country-inspired train of delicacies were more my speed. Yet, there was something about this dish that was so profoundly tantalizing, it became impossible to resist its rustic charm. The eventful weavings of perfectly grilled lamb chops, tinged by the robust aroma of rosemary, all culminating in an ensemble that was hard to forget – that’s when I realized, sometimes stepping out of my culinary comfort zone could be an equally rewarding experience.

Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops

A Masterful Mélange of Taste, Health, and Culinary Tradition

Moving beyond the layers of taste, my culinary journey with the Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops began to unveil its many nutrient-laden facets. For starters, lamb provides a commendable source of high-quality protein, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals. The presence of rosemary not only enhances the flavor profile, but also brings forth a world of health benefits, thanks to its anti-inflammatory compounds believed to boost immune and circulatory system function. Then there’s the radiant warmth of garlic, intact with its potential antioxidant properties; olive oil’s integral heart-healthy fats; and the refreshing boost of immunity courtesy of lemon zest. When a single dish carries this much to offer while satiating your taste buds, it is quite hard not to fall in love with it!

Perfect Pairings for Grilled Rosemary Lamb Chops

One of the best aspects about this dish is its versatility and compatibility with various other recipes. It takes on a whole new flavor depth when paired with a fresh, vibrant salad – let’s say, a classic Mediterranean salad or perhaps, a delicious Greek orzo salad. These pairings tend to bring out the best in our main recipe while maintaining the much-appreciated lightness on the palate. And, if you’re a wine lover, you know a good grilled lamb chop cries out for a fabulous wine pairing. Trust me when I say, enjoying it with a glass of deep, full-bodied California Cabernet Sauvignon brings out nuances in the lamb that you might otherwise miss. Here, I cannot help but recommend Wine Folly’s review of California Cabernet Sauvignon to match with the different flavor layers of this dish.

What You’ll Need

  • 12 lamb chops
  • 2 tablespoons of rosemary leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon zest
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving
ALLERGENS: Garlic

Method

Step One

Prepare your lamb chops by patting them dry with paper towels and placing them in a shallow dish.

Step Two

In a separate bowl, combine the finely chopped rosemary leaves, minced garlic, olive oil, and lemon zest. Stir until everything is fully mixed.

Step Three

Spread the rosemary mixture evenly over both sides of the lamb chops, ensuring each chop is well covered. Season each chop with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Step Four

Cover the dish with plastic wrap, and marinate the chops in your refrigerator for at least 1 hour. But for optimal flavor, it is better to marinate them overnight.

Step Five

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the lamb chops for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Step Six

Remove the chops from the grill, and let them rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step Seven

Serve your grilled rosemary lamb chops warm with a wedge of lemon on the side for squeezing.
