One of the reasons why I deeply admire the Homemade Wintergreen Balm is because it seamlessly intertwines the calming and invigorating aspects of our natural world, revealing the innate power and potential that lies within our environment and, indirectly, our bodies. It is not simply a meal or a side – it is, in essence, the invisible thread weaving our very existence into the fabric of the world.
The Ultimate Fusion of Nature’s Bounties
With roots seated firmly in Colorado’s rich mountain region, my appreciation for the wild and the innovation it sparks in my culinary creations, especially this fruit-based recipe, is profound. The key ingredients of the Homemade Wintergreen Balm, like beeswax, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, grapefruit, pomegranate, and shea butter, are just a testament to that.
Nature’s Blessing: Health Benefits
But unlike many other offerings, what I love most about the Homemade Wintergreen Balm is the wealth of health benefits it brings. Rich in antioxidants and packed with vitamins, this mixture aids skin health, reduces inflammation, and promotes cell growth. And with the added snap of wintergreen, this aromatic balm not only stimulates senses but also has natural pain-relieving properties.
This recipe has a gentle nod to the lip-smacking Pomegranate Jelly and Grapefruit Green Smoothie, two dishes which, like the Homemade Wintergreen Balm, shine a spotlight on the versatile potential of fruit. So, whether you find yourself relaxed beside a roaring fireplace on a chilly night or out on the trail, embraced by the tranquil solitude of nature, this recipe is a ready companion, promising nourishment for body and soul.
Time and again, I am reminded why I hold this recipe close to my heart. It ties me back to my roots, to the great outdoors that nourishes my spirit, and in the process, cooks up something truly extraordinary – a balm for the soul.
What You’ll Need
- 1/2 cup of Beeswax pellets
- 1 cup of Coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons of sweet Almond oil
- 1/2 cup of Grapefruit peel, chopped
- 1/2 cup of Pomegranate seeds
- 1/4 cup of dried Wintergreen leaves
- 1/2 cup of Shea butter
- 5 drops of Vanilla extract
- 10 drops of Wintergreen essential oil
Method
Step One
Start by combining the beeswax pellets and coconut oil in a double boiler and melt them over medium heat. Stir regularly to ensure they are well mixed.
Step Two
Once the beeswax and coconut oil are completely melted, add the sweet almond oil, chopped grapefruit peel, pomegranate seeds, and dried wintergreen leaves. Stir well to incorporate all the ingredients.
Step Three
Let your mixture simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. This allows the ingredients to infuse their scents and properties into the oil and beeswax.
Step Four
Strain the mixture into a clean, dry container. You can use a muslin cloth or a fine sieve for this process. Throw away the strained materials.
Step Five
While your mixture is still warm, stir in the shea butter until it completely melts and blends in.
Step Six
Allow the mixture to cool down a bit and then add the vanilla extract and wintergreen essential oil. Stir well to ensure the oils are well distributed throughout the balm.
Step Seven
Pour your wintergreen balm into containers of your preference and allow it to cool down completely, which will solidify it. Once solid, the balm is ready to use! Remember to store it properly to increase its shelf life.
