Indonesian Cinnamon Tea

The Allure Of This Recipe

The beauty of this Indonesian Cinnamon Tea lies in the delicate equilibrium that it strikes between sweet, citrusy fruits and rich, earthy spices. It soothes and invigorates in equal measure, a testament to the magic that can happen when flavors from different cultures come together. As someone with roots both in France and Louisiana, I’ve always loved experimenting with varying ingredients and techniques that embody this kind of fusion.

Moreover, this Indonesian Cinnamon Tea shares a similarity with my beloved Creole and French desserts, in the way that it weaves different flavors into a harmonious whole. The apples and oranges are reminiscent of a classic French tart, while the cinnamon, cloves, and black tea could easily be found in a Creole spice mix. It’s a dish that reminds me of my heritage every time I prepare it.

Health Benefits And Pairing Suggestions

Besides its tantalizing flavors, this tea is also packed with health benefits. The cinnamon and cloves bring with them a host of medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects (source). Furthermore, the fruits used – apples, oranges, and strawberries – contribute their own health perks to the mix. These fruits are rich in essential vitamins and fibers which boost overall health and wellbeing (source).

When it comes to pairing, this Indonesian Cinnamon Tea would go splendidly with a light dessert – perhaps fruit tarts, creamy éclairs, or even some of my personal favourites, beignets. Not only would these desserts enhance the fruity notes in the tea, but they would provide a delightful contrast to the warming spices. The tea would also fit well as an afternoon accompaniment to a platter of cheeses, another nod to my French heritage.

Revel in the familiar and explore the exotic with this delightful cup of Indonesian Cinnamon Tea. I promise you, one sip and you’ll understand my love for it.

  • 6 black tea bags
  • 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar

  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 cloves
  • 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries

Step One

Start by boiling 6 cups of water in a large pot. Once the water has reached boiling point, throw in your 6 black tea bags and let it steep for 5 minutes.
