What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups of fresh Jabuticaba berries
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
ALLERGENS: None

Method

Step One

Start by washing the Jabuticaba berries thoroughly under running water. Make sure no dirt or unwanted particles are left on the berries.

Step Two

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until they become soft and start to release their aroma.

Step Three

Add the grated fresh ginger to the pan and stir it for a minute to combine well with the onion and garlic.

Step Four

Next, add the Jabuticaba berries to the pan. Cook them until they start to pop and release their juice. This might take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Step Five

Add the white sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water to the saucepan. Stir everything together until the sugar has dissolved completely.

Step Six

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step Seven

Simmer the sauce until it thickens to your desired consistency. This might take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Remember, the sauce will become thicker as it cools.

Step Eight

Finally, season the sauce with salt and pepper according to your taste. If you want, you can also strain the sauce to get rid of the berry skins and seeds.

Step Nine

Let the Jabuticaba sauce cool down before transferring it to a storage container. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Step Ten

Your homemade Jabuticaba Sauce for Meat is ready. Serve it over your favorite meat dishes and enjoy!
