There’s something blissfully delicious about my Lemon Myrtle Baked Salmon Fillets recipe that makes it stand out among others. For a food lover, there’s no greater joy than experimenting with unique flavors. This dish is an amalgamation of tart and tangy notes of lemon myrtle combined with the hearty goodness of salmon fillets to bring a taste that titillates your tastebuds. Plus, the combination of Indian spices and Californian freshness make for an exciting fusion flavored platter.
The Power of Fusion
Driven by the love for my Gujarati roots and the adopted West Coast culture, I inherently create dishes that harmonize the two worlds- much like the Lemon Myrtle Baked Salmon Fillets. The key here is, of course, the lemon myrtle – an ingredient native to Australia, but surprisingly, sings harmony with the Indian palate. It brings a citrusy and slightly grassy flavour that pairs impeccably well with the robust profile of salmon.
Healthful Indulgence
Apart from the tantalizing taste, this dish is a powerhouse of essential nutrients. With a generous serving of proteins by salmon, the omega-3 fatty acids present in the dish adds to its health quotient, maintaining heart health and reducing inflammation. Olive oil is an excellent source of monounsaturated fats, while lemons provide a burst of vitamin C and antioxidants. Not to mention, honey and garlic also come with their respective health perks.
Though Lemon Myrtle Baked Salmon Fillets holds a unique place in my fusion recipe collection, it’s reminiscent of traditional baked salmon dishes and pairs well with a wide range of sides. It goes excellently with a steaming bowl of basmati rice or a refreshing cucumber salad.
In the end, each bite of this dish is a testament to my love for blending cultures through food and creating a harmony of flavors that cater to multiple palates. Give it a try, and it just might become your favorite too!
What You’ll Need
- 6 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
- 4 tablespoons of lemon myrtle seasoning
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 lemons, zest and juice
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of fresh dill, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
Method
Step One
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
Step Two
Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet that has been lightly greased with some olive oil. Set it aside for now.
Step Three
In a bowl, combine the lemon myrtle seasoning, olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, honey, fresh dill, salt and pepper, and minced garlic. Stir everything together until fully combined.
Step Four
Generously apply this mixture to the surface of each salmon fillet, ensuring that each piece is evenly coated.
Step Five
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven, and bake the salmon fillets for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure to check the salmon regularly to prevent it from overcooking. The salmon is cooked when it is flaky and opaque in colour.
Step Six
Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Lemon Myrtle Baked Salmon Fillets hot, topped with any remaining glaze and garnished with additional fresh dill if desired.
