The mixture of sweet and crunchy is a hard one to resist, and my Sesame Seed and Honey Roasted Almonds recipe strikes such a perfect balance between these two sensations that I’ve fallen head over heels for it. While I use it as a go-to afternoon snack for myself and the kids, this standby has a versatility that goes far beyond what you’d expect. You have to view the picture Sesame Seed and Honey Roasted Almonds to fully appreciate its inviting allure!

Why The Perfect Balance?

Right from my sun-saturated Californian roots, I’ve been very particular about using simple, natural ingredients while also delivering a burst of flavors. This Sesame Seed and Honey Roasted Almonds recipe is no exception. Classically American with a hint of health-consciousness, it’s enriched with heart-healthful almonds and honey, both powerhouses of antioxidants. Not to mention the sesame seeds that lend a delectable crunch, while being a sneaky source of fiber, healthy fats, and protein. And let’s not forget that little touch of sea salt and cinnamon that sets this recipe apart.

Redefining Versatility

One of the reasons I am absolutely fond of this snack is its versatile nature. It doesn’t get confined to the snack jar, but can successfully find its way into many dishes. Coarsely chop and scatter over a fresh green salad, or sprinkle on your morning oatmeal for added crunch. It works wonderfully well when mixed into my Almond and Sesame Chicken recipe as well.

In many ways, this recipe reminds me of the classic Caramelized Spiced Nuts recipe, yet with a distinct identity of its own. The combination of honey, sea salt, and a pinch of cinnamon lends a depth of flavor which is hard to achieve in ordinary roasted almonds. It’s this unique blend of taste and texture that keeps me coming back to my Sesame Seed and Honey Roasted Almonds.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups whole almonds
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
ALLERGENS: Almonds, Honey, Sesame Seeds

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or around 175 degree Celsius and arrange a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step Two

Take a large bowl and add 2 cups whole almonds in it.

Step Three

In a medium-sized stove-top pan, combine 1/4 cup honey, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until you achieve a smooth, well-blended mixture. It should take about 2-3 minutes.

Step Four

Pour this warm mixture over the almonds. Use a spatula to make sure all the almonds are well coated.

Step Five

Spread the coated almonds in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle 2 tablespoons sesame seeds evenly over the top.

Step Six

Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast the almonds for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the almonds are lightly toasted and fragrant. Make sure to stir at least once mid-way through roasting to ensure even toasting and prevent burning.

Step Seven

Remove the almonds from oven and let them cool for 10-15 minutes. The almonds will become crispier as they cool. Once cooled, break any almond clumps apart.

Step Eight

Your Sesame Seed and Honey Roasted Almonds are ready to serve. You can also store them in an air-tight container for future consumption.
