What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1.5 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2.5 teaspoons salt
  • 5 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • Extra flour for dusting

Method

Step One

Take the sourdough starter and mix it with 1.5 cups of lukewarm water until well combined.

Step Two

Add 2 teaspoons of instant yeast to the mixture, stirring until it is fully dissolved.

Step Three

Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and mix until it fully dissolves into the mixture.

Step Four

Stir in 2.5 teaspoons of salt to the mixture.

Step Five

Gradually add 5 cups of All-Purpose Flour, stirring consistently until the dough is smooth and doesn’t stick to the edges of the bowl.

Step Six

Lightly dust a clean surface with some extra flour. Knead the dough on the floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.

Step Seven

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Step Eight

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 to 45 minutes, or until it is golden brown.

Step Nine

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
