There’s nothing quite like a heaping plate of my Soybean Stir Fry to bring warmth and deliciousness to your dinner table. As someone who hails from Colorado, where rugged landscapes cohabit with vibrant, diverse flora, I know that sometimes, the simplest ingredients harvested from Mother Nature can create the most remarkable dishes. This recipe encapsulates that belief perfectly, transitioning from a basic list of ingredients to a mouth-watering family favorite.

Soybean Stir Fry

The Harmony of Flavors

One of the things I love about this Soybean Stir Fry is the harmony that exists within its vibrant medley of vegetables. With each bite, you experience a jolt of flavor, hidden in the sautéed onions, crunchy bell peppers, and of course, the star – fresh soybeans. Complementing this garden riot is the sizzle of garlic and ginger, all stirred into a beautiful symphony with soy, hoisin sauce, and a dash of sesame oil. It’s a taste that immediately transports me back to my treks through the Rockies, where you find the raw, untamed wilderness meets the subtlest whispering notes of earthy flavors.

A Nutritious Treat

Not only is this stir fry a party for the palate, but it’s a powerhouse of nutrients, too. Soybeans, for instance, are rich in antioxidants, vital for combating those harmful free radicals in the body. They are also packed with proteins, making this an excellent vegetarian dish for those seeking to incorporate more plant-based fares into their diet. With carrots bringing in a high dose of vitamin A, bell peppers stocked full of vitamin C, and mushrooms providing a boost of vitamin D and other minerals, this recipe strikes a fantastic balance between taste and health.

Its similarity with other Asian stir-fry dishes like Chicken Stir Fry or Tofu Broccoli Stir Fry adds to its charm. Each dish spins a tale of its own while having shared threads of health, nutrition, and culture. Enjoying the Soybean Stir Fry with a side of brown rice or quinoa can make a complete meal that nourishes as much as it excites your taste buds.

So here it is – a recipe that binds together my love for the wilderness, the simplicity of fresh ingredients, and the essence of home cooking. I hope you enjoy this Soybean Stir Fry as much as I do because food, after all, is a celebration of life’s simple and profound pleasures.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of minced ginger
  • 1 medium-sized onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups of fresh soybeans
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup of sliced carrots
  • 2 large tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
ALLERGENS: Soybeans, Soy sauce, Hoisin sauce

Method

Step One

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Once hot, add 1 tablespoon each of minced garlic and ginger to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until they become aromatic, about 1-2 minutes.

Step Two

Add the thinly sliced onion to the pan and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent. This should take approximately 3-4 minutes.

Step Three

Next, add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the pan along with the fresh soybeans, sliced mushrooms, and sliced carrots. Stir well to combine all the ingredients and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Step Four

Reduce the heat to low and add the tomato wedges to the pan. Stir everything together until the tomatoes are evenly distributed.

Step Five

In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1/4 cup of vegetable broth, and 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this sauce over the stir-fried vegetables, and toss everything together to ensure that all the ingredients are well-coated in the sauce.

Step Six

Season the stir fry with salt and pepper to taste, then continue to cook everything together for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to fully meld together. Serve your Soybean Stir Fry hot, and enjoy.
