There are few things that bring me as much joy as creating a recipe that combines flavors in a unique way while also being good for your body. That’s why I’m particularly fond of my Spiced Musk Mallow Tea. This calming herbal tea incorporates the soothing qualities of dried Musk Mallow leaves, spices like cloves and cinnamon, along with the natural sweetness of fruits to create a refreshing beverage that’s perfect any time of day.

Spiced Musk Mallow Tea

More than Just A Cup of Tea

This Spiced Musk Mallow Tea, however, isn’t just a beverage. It’s like a mini-yoga retreat in a teacup, a simple ritual that has brought calm and tranquility into my bustling household of three adopted children. Each infusion of this beautifully aromatic tea offers a moment of mindfulness and centering that I look forward to every day.

Musk mallow, lovingly known as ‘mallow’ for short, has been hailed for its numerous health benefits. Due to its natural mucilage content, it’s known for its ability to soothe the digestive system, ease coughs, and even calm skin irritations. And let’s not forget about those aromatic spices. The cloves deliver a hearty dose of beneficial compounds known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, while the cinnamon serves as an immune-boosting powerhouse that also positively impacts blood sugar levels. In the same spirit, I often like to add a little honey to my tea for its antimicrobial benefits and to sweeten things up naturally.

Bring A Little Spice to Your Cup

If you ever enjoyed the traditional Mulled Wine during those colder months or have basked in the autumnal comfort of a spiced apple cider, then this tea might remind you of those familiar and cozy flavors.

Moreover, the Spiced Musk Mallow Tea pairs beautifully with a range of dishes. A personal favorite of mine is to enjoy a hot cup alongside avocado toast in the morning, allowing the flavors of the spices to wonderfully contrast the creaminess of the avocado. On the other hand, it would not be amiss to enjoy it after dinner, paired with a light, fruity dessert, or even on its own as a soothing nightcap.

So, it’s my hope that you’ll savor this Spiced Musk Mallow Tea as much as I do, whether it’s bringing a little extra warmth to your Sunday brunch table or helping you unwind after a long, hectic day. And in each fragrant sip, you’ll find the hard, yet rewarding work of crafting a healthier, balanced lifestyle. After all, isn’t that the true joy of loving every recipe we create?

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup of dried Musk Mallow leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 cups of water
  • Honey to taste (optional)
ALLERGENS: Cloves, Cinnamon, Honey

Method

Step One

Begin by gathering all your ingredients together. Ensure you have the dried Musk Mallow leaves, cloves, cinnamon sticks, water and optionally, honey for additional sweetness.

Step Two

Take a large saucepan and add 6 cups of water to it. Put the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to high, bringing the water to a boil.

Step Three

Once the water begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and add in your dried Musk Mallow leaves. Allow them to steep in the boiling water for around 5 to 10 minutes.

Step Four

Next, add the cloves and cinnamon sticks into the saucepan. Stir all the ingredients together and let the mixture simmer on low heat for another 10 to 15 minutes. This will allow all the flavours to infuse together.

Step Five

After the mixture has simmered and the flavours are well combined, remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea into your teapot or directly into cups, making sure to catch all the leaves and spices.

Step Six

The Spiced Musk Mallow Tea is now ready to be enjoyed. Add honey as per your taste, if desired and serve hot.
