Why I Love Thai Spicy Fish Salad with Herbs

“My experience up till now was largely laced with Midwestern cuisine, filled with its comforting beef stews and corn casseroles. But, the Spicy Fish Salad with Herbs, a love letter to the vibrant world of Thai cuisine, created an intersection in my culinary journey that I am most grateful for. This dish, with its layer upon layer of delectable flavors, has brought a splash of the East in my Nebraska kitchen, allowing me to explore, appreciate and ultimately fall in love with it.”

Spicy Fish Salad with Herbs

The Culinary Luminary Who Inspired Me

“I’ve always been a huge admirer of chef Jamie Oliver and his flair for global culinary traditions. His nuanced understanding of Thai food – its balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy – truly reflects in his recipes. This Spicy Fish Salad with Herbs is my token of respect and a culinary salute to his ethos of cooking.

An Assembly of Astonishing Aromatics

“Though a far departure from my usual staples, this recipe manages to evoke a sense of familiarity in its freshness. The lemongrass, mint and basil – they remind me of the aromatic herbs from the plantations back home. The kicked-up spice from Thai chilies and the gentle, bitter undertones of dill bridge the gap between my homely Midwestern cuisine and the exotic Thai flavors.”

A Dance of Flavors

“The true magic reveals itself in the simplicity of this recipe. The lime juice and fish sauce marry to create a delightful base for the salad dressing, enhanced by a slight sweetness from the sugar. The meaty white fish fillets absorb all these flavors wonderfully, bursting with a flavorful symphony on your palate with every mouthful.”

“If you’re in the mood for some Thai goodness, this dish is just the ticket. And if you want to go the extra mile, why not pair this up with some Thai fried rice? The perfect companion to the spicy fish salad, lending a carbohydrate counterpoint to all those enticing flavors.”

“So, that’s why I love the Spicy Fish Salad with Herbs recipe. It’s my beloved ode to Thai cuisine, encompassing all its complex cuisines while resonating with the home-style farming essence that I’ve grown up with here in Nebraska. And trust me, once you try it, it’s likely to earn a special place in your culinary heart too.”

Step One

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the fish fillets and fry until golden brown on both sides. Once cooked, remove from the heat and allow to cool down.
