What You’ll Need

  • 2 lbs large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
ALLERGENS: shrimp, soy

Method

Step One

Start off by heating the vegetable oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is heated up, add in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Stir the ingredients well until the garlic becomes light golden brown and aromatic. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step Two

Next, add your shrimp as you season it with salt and pepper. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink, typically for about 2-3 minutes per side. Make sure not to overcook your shrimp to avoid them from becoming tough.

Step Three

Pour the water and soy sauce into the skillet. Let these ingredients simmer together for a few minutes. This will help in developing more flavors and creating a nice sauce for your shrimp.

Step Four

Once your sauce is created, you can now add in the chopped green onions, fresh cilantro and lime juice. Mix these additions well with the shrimp and the sauce. This will give your dish an enticing aroma and a fresh, vibrant flavor.

Step Five

Let your shrimp dish cook for another 2 minutes to allow the flavors to fully amalgamate. After this, your Spicy Water-Pepper and Garlic Shrimp is ready to be served.
