Rooted in Tradition, Embellished with Innovation
Being a Texas girl at heart, my culinary journey is heavily influenced by traditional Southern cooking. But when it comes to fruit-based recipes like this one, they’re a universal favorite. This Tayberry Jam recipe shares similarities with Blackberry Jam, another beloved fruit preserve. These jams beautifully complement rustic breads, the fluffiness of pancakes, or the richness of cheesecakes, enhancing the humblest of breakfasts or lending a gourmet touch to dessert.
Health in Every Spoonful
Moreover, Tayberry Jam offers health benefits to sweeten the deal further. Tayberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, which are vital for promoting heart health and maintaining clear skin. Lemon juice adds a burst of vitamin C, boosting your immune system while providing a refreshing tang. And let’s not forget sugar – consumed in moderation, it provides our bodies with much-needed energy.
With every sip of this delightful jam, you will not only immerse yourself in an aromatic fusion of flavors but also nourish your body with essential nutrients. So, whether you relish it with bread at breakfast or melt it over pancakes on a sunny morning, let the goodness of Tayberries fill your day with joy and nutrition.

What You’ll Need
- 2.5 cups of Tayberries
- 2 tablespoons of Lemon Juice
- 1.5 cups of Granulated Sugar
- 1 package of Fruit Pectin
- 0.5 cups of Water
Method
Step One
First, prepare your tayberries by washing them thoroughly under cool water. Remove any stems, leaves, or bad spots. Set them aside to dry.
Step Two
Combine your tayberries and lemon juice in a large pot. Then, crush the berries using a potato masher or the back of a spoon to release their juices. Once you have mashed to your desired consistency, add in the granulated sugar.
Step Three
Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it reaches a boil, stirring frequently to prevent the sugar from burning on the bottom of the pot. Once it reaches a boil, let it cook for another minute.
Step Four
In a separate bowl, whisk together the fruit pectin and water until the pectin is fully dissolved. Then, slowly stir this into your pot of boiling tayberries. Continue to stir and heat the jam until it returns to a full, rolling boil.
Step Five
Once your jam has boiled for a minute with the pectin mixture, remove it from the heat. Ladle your jam into sterilized jars, leaving about a quarter inch of head space. Seal the jars tightly.
Step Six
Store your jars in a cool, dark place. They should keep for up to a year. Refrigerate after opening.
