Why I Love Thai Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice

As y’all know, I’m a Carolina girl through and through. However, occasionally, I love switching gears from my beloved Southern comfort food and testing out flavors from across the globe. Today, let’s talk about this delightful dish that has wooed my taste buds: Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice.

Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice

A Fusion of Flavors

There’s something so comforting about a tasty bowl of fried rice. It feels like home, but with a bit of exotic excitement. This particular Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice recipe features a heavenly combination of jasmine rice lightly perfumed by garlic, touched by the sweetness of peas and carrots, with succulent thin slices of pork. It’s the sort of dish you’d expect from Chef David Thompson, a renowned Australian chef known for his love of Thai cuisine.

Versatility in Each Bite

What I really appreciate about the Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice is its flexibility. Just like good ol’ fried chicken, it’s a dish that can be tailored to fit your palate, whether you go for an extra kick of garlic or adjust the sauce to be sweet or savoury. It pairs well with dishes like a refreshing Green Papaya Salad or a hearty Thai Chicken Curry. Be it a cozy dinner for two or a family Sunday luncheon, it happily adjusts to the occasion.

Simple Yet Bursting with Flavor

Sometimes, the simplest dishes are the ones the leave the most significant impact. Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice is no exception. As someone whose dishes often contain biscuits or coastal seafood, I admire the ability of this rice dish to hold its own, charming with its robust flavor. It’s honestly a joy watching family and friends savor it, usually ending up with requests for ‘just a little bit more’.

So, treat yourself and give this Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice a try – a delightful departure from tradition, and an excellent addition to your recipe repertoire.

What You’ll Need

  • 4 cups of steamed jasmine rice (cooked and cooled)
  • 1 lb of pork loin (thinly sliced)
  • 8 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup of green peas
  • 1 cup of diced carrots
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 4 green onions (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup of Thai sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of fresh cilantro leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 lime (cut into wedges, for serving)
ALLERGENS: Fish, Eggs

Method

Step One

Heat up 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced pork loin to the pan and stir fry until it’s browned and fully cooked. Once done, remove from the pan and set it aside.

Step Two

In the same pan, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and stir fry for about a minute, or until it becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.

Step Three

Now, add the diced carrots and green peas to the pan. Stir fry for another couple of minutes until the vegetables have softened slightly.

Step Four

Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until they’re fully cooked, then mix in with the vegetables.

Step Five

Add the previously cooked pork back into the pan. Also add the cooked and cooled jasmine rice, sliced green onions, Thai sweet soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, and ground black pepper. Stir everything together until it’s well combined and heated through.

Step Six

Transfer the fried rice to a serving plate or bowl. If desired, garnish it with fresh cilantro leaves and serve it with lime wedges on the side.

Step Seven

Enjoy your delicious Thai Garlic Pork Fried Rice! It’s perfect for a quick and easy dinner, or as a filling lunch. Don’t forget to squeeze a bit of fresh lime juice over your rice before eating to brighten up the flavors!
