Tree Onion and Cheese Quiche

The Essence Behind the Creation

This Tree Onion and Cheese Quiche is no ordinary amalgamation of ingredients. Towering above is the essence of my split heirloom, working relentlessly to combine two worlds on a solitary plate. It is akin to the delicate dance of sushi; a dance I learnt young, cherishing the rich flavors of both the Pacific Northwest and the Land of the Rising Sun.

This beloved recipe has won countless hearts and taste buds, bringing forth a satisfying blend of wholesomeness and delectability. The tree onions— or as some would call it, the Egyptian onions or top onions— infuse this delightful dish with a unique combination of tang, sweetness, and an earthy zest.

Nutritious and Delicious: The Perfect Harmony

I’ve always believed that food, beyond being simply delectable, should primarily be nourishing. One slice of this wonderful quiche holds a power-packed blend of proteins, healthy fats, calcium, and a fair share of vitamins. Not to mention tree onions, the star ingredient, serves you a healthy dose of Vitamin C, B6, and fibers. What You’ll Need

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 cup of diced tree onions (also known as Egyptian onions or top onions)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
ALLERGENS: Gluten, eggs, dairy

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Insert your pre-made pie crust into an ungreased pie dish and gently press it down along the bottom and the sides. Set aside.

Step Two

Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat in a frying pan. Once heated, add the diced tree onions and sauté them until softened. This process should take around 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

Step Three

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until thoroughly combined. Stir in the cooled onions and shredded cheddar cheese.

Step Four

Pour the egg mixture into the pie crust. Ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed across the crust.

Step Five

Place the pie dish on the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is puffed up and golden. Check the quiche by inserting a knife into the center – if it comes out clean, your quiche is done.

Step Six

Remove the Tree Onion and Cheese Quiche from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade meal!
