As a Texas native and a food enthusiast, I must say, there’s something particularly magical about the Ugli Fruit and Mango Salsa. It’s not just a dish, it’s an experience. A delightful blend of tradition and innovation, just like our Tex-Mex pallet. A concoction of vibrant colors and lively flavors, this salsa takes me back to my roots while adding a dash of adventure to my food life. The image below paints a perfect picture of the fiesta that awaits you in this dish.

Ugli Fruit and Mango Salsa

The Magic of Fusion

One of the unique aspects about the Ugli Fruit and Mango Salsa that I admire is the beautifully balanced fusion of tastes. Much like how I love to introduce a modern spin to traditional Southern recipes, this dish presents a lovely blend of the slightly tarty Ugli fruit and the rich sweetness of ripe mangoes. Factor in the zestful lime juice and the kick from jalapenos and you’re in for a culinary roller-coaster ride.

The Health Punch

What’s even more amazing about this salsa is that it doesn’t just delight the taste buds, it also nurtures the body. It’s loaded with vitamin C from the Ugli fruit and mangoes, beneficial fats from the olive oil, and powerful antioxidants from the red bell peppers. It’s a delicious recipe that packs a punch with health benefits.

Similar to the famed Mango Pico De Gallo, this salsa is versatile in its pairing. It goes brilliantly with dishes like grilled fish or chicken, adding a tangy punch of flavors. If you’re a fan of food experiences that evoke a sense of novelty while reminding you of home, this Ugli Fruit and Mango Salsa recipe is a must-try!

In a world where food is increasingly about fusion and creative experimentation, I see this salsa as a vibrant representation of where I am from, and at the same time, a celebration of the possibilities that lie ahead. In every hearty scoop, I see a beautiful blend of where we’ve been and where we’re heading. Now, isn’t that something we all love in our food adventures?

What You’ll Need

  • 2 Ugli fruits, peeled and diced
  • 2 ripe Mangos, pitted and diced
  • 1 large Red Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 Jalapenos, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup of Fresh Cilantro, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons of Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 tablespoon of Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Honey
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
ALLERGENS: Mangos

Method

Step One

Begin by preparing your fruits and vegetables. Peel and dice the Ugli fruits, pit and dice the Mangos, finely chop the large Red Onion, finely chop the Red Bell Pepper, and finely chop the Jalapenos. Make sure to remove the seeds from the Jalapenos to reduce their spiciness.

Step Two

In a large mixing bowl, combine your diced Ugli fruits, Mangos, chopped Red Onion, Red Bell Pepper, and Jalapenos. Mix until everything is well combined.

Step Three

Next, add in your freshly chopped Cilantro and mix it into the salsa until it is evenly distributed.

Step Four

In a small bowl, combine your Fresh Lime Juice, Olive Oil, and Honey. Stir until the Honey has dissolved into the other liquids.

Step Five

Drizzle the Lime Juice, Olive Oil, and Honey mixture over your salsa. Then, mix until the salsa is fully coated with the mixture.

Step Six

Finally, season the salsa to taste with Salt and Pepper. Mix it once more to ensure the Salt and Pepper are evenly distributed throughout the salsa.

Step Seven

Allow your salsa to chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together. Enjoy!
