Why I Love Portuguese Vegan Vegetable Pizza
The Vegan Vegetable Pizza, a charming Portuguese recipe, is a harmonious symphony of flavors, colors, and textures. It does not simply satisfy your salivary glands but also brightens up your dinner table. To see what I’m talking about, take a look at this stunning picture:
A Trip to Portugal
When you take a bite of our Vegan Vegetable Pizza, it’s as though you’re setting foot in a quaint Portuguese taverna, enveloped by the symphony of chattering locals and the mesmerizing aroma of hearty Portuguese food. This pizza radiates that same rustic charm, introducing you to a myriad of flavors hitherto unknown yet surprisingly, irresistible. While I am all about Tex-Mex and Southern comfort food, global cuisines have always been a source of inspiration for me, particularly the Mediterranean and Portuguese styles of cooking, reminiscent of celebrity chef Jose Avillez’ approach.
Get Creative with Your Toppings
What I love most about this Vegan Vegetable Pizza is the freedom it allows in the choice of toppings. Feel free to customize it to your liking by adding or skipping ingredients or even replacing them with your local produce. If you can’t source vegan cheese, opt for tofu or soy cheese instead. There’s a world of possibilities within this single recipe.
This mouthwatering fare is reminiscent of the luminous colors and bold flavors of my Texan cuisine, particularly of the famous Veggie Texas Caviar. It goes without saying that this pizza would pair beautifully with a refreshing cucumber mint mojito or a hearty vegan ghoulash for a wholesome family meal. The blend of fresh ingredients featuring bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, and earthy herbs all adorned with vegan cheese atop a bed of perfectly crisp pizza dough is an ode to mindful, plant-based eating.
Ultimately, the beauty of this Vegan Vegetable Pizza lies not just in its delightful taste or vibrant appearance, but in its simplicity and versatility. It is an inclusively delicious recipe that encourages creativity and imposes no boundaries. Whether you’re serving this to your family on a busy weekday or treating your dinner guests during a weekend gathering, the simplicity and versatility of this Vegan Vegetable Pizza are sure to win hearts time and time again.
What You’ll Need
- 1 medium pizza dough
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups shredded vegan cheese
Method
Step One
Preheat your oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it’s preheating.
Step Two
While the oven is preheating, roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If you don’t have a pizza stone, place the rolled dough onto a pizza pan or baking sheet.
Step Three
Brush the olive oil evenly over the surface of the dough, making sure to get all the way to the edges. Then spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
Step Four
Sprinkle minced garlic evenly over the sauce. Arrange the thinly sliced red, green, and yellow bell peppers, red onion, black olives, mushrooms, and tomatoes over the top of the pizza.
Step Five
Next, sprinkle the chopped fresh basil, parsley, oregano, black pepper, and salt evenly over the vegetables.
Step Six
Spread the shredded vegan cheese evenly over the top of the pizza.
Step Seven
Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15 minutes. If you’re using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the pizza onto the stone to bake.
Step Eight
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your Vegan Vegetable Pizza!
