Vegetable Stir Fry with Lesser Calamint

A Dish Steeped in Versatility

The beauty of stir-fry is that it allows for a mélange of ingredients, each bringing its distinct texture and flavor. This recipe encapsulates that same versatility, fusing together diverse veggies like zucchini, snap peas, and baby corn. Not too dissimilar to my life spent on the stage, where blending different ideas and cultures fosters creativity and generates a richer, more nuanced performance.

A Taste of Health

This Vegetable Stir Fry with Lesser Calamint isn’t just delicious, it’s also densely packed with nutrients. From the vast array of vegetables providing essential vitamins and minerals, to the lesser calamint – a herb known for its antioxidant properties – this dish is a feast for your palate and a boon for your health. Whether looking to bolster your immunity or simply seeking a flavorsome, healthier meal option, this recipe fits the bill.

One of the best things about this recipe is its adaptability. Fancy a meatier option? Try adding some black-bean pork. Need more heat? Sprinkle in a dash of crushed red pepper. The possibilities are as varied as the many cultures that make up NYC’s culinary tapestry.

A Perfect Accompaniment

While this vegetable stir-fry shines as a standalone dish, it also pairs beautifully with a variety of accompaniments. A bowl of light, fluffy steamed rice is always a classic combo, yet it also works nicely with noodles, or as a filling in a tortilla for an East-meets-West fusion burrito.

So, whether you desire a healthy lunch, a vibrant dinner, or a novel twist on your traditional vegetable fare, my Vegetable Stir Fry with Lesser Calamint recipe is a celebration of flavor, diversity, and nutrition. Just like the vibrant city of New York, it provides a culinary adventure like no other. Enjoy!

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium-sized zucchini, sliced
  • 2 medium-sized carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup of broccoli florets
  • 1 1/2 cups of snap peas, ends trimmed
  • 2 cups of baby corn
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of lessor calamint leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • White pepper to taste
ALLERGENS: Sesame oil, garlic, soy sauce

Method

Step One

Start by heating the sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, then sauté until the onions become translucent.

Step Two

Add the sliced bell pepper, zucchini, julienned carrots, broccoli florets, trimmed snap peas, baby corn, and sliced mushrooms to the pan. Stir regularly for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender. Sprinkle in the grated fresh ginger and stir well.

Step Three

In a separate bowl, combine the soy sauce, cornstarch, water, and sugar. Stir well until the cornstarch and sugar have completely dissolved. Pour this mixture into the pan with the vegetables, stirring until all the ingredients are well-coated.

Step Four

Chop up the lesser calamint leaves and add them to the stir fry, along with salt and white pepper to taste. Continue stirring all ingredients together for another 2-3 minutes until the dish is heated through and the sauce thickens.

Step Five

Serve the Vegetable Stir Fry hot, ideally over your choice of rice or noodles. Enjoy the distinctive aroma and taste of lesser calamint in this hearty, healthful dish.
