Why I Love Brazilian Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce

If I can be honest, my love for this Brazilian recipe, Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce, has a lot to do with my seafood-loving, New England heart. In Maine, we do a lot of lobster, clams, and codfish – not often do we venture into salmon territory, but when we do, it’s a treat. This recipe, in many ways, echoes my seaside upbringing in the most beautiful way.

Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce

Beyond New England

You might be wondering, why a Brazilian recipe? The answer lies in the engaging, diverse charm of Brazilian culinary techniques. They’re vibrant, balanced, and take grilled seafood to an entirely new plateau. My daughters Erin and Samantha, who are always excited for an adventure in the kitchen, absolutely devour this meal every time. Whenever I cook up this Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce, it transports us from our familiar Atlantic coast to the warm, energetic beaches of Brazil.

Why It’s a Winner?

What exactly sets this recipe apart from other salmon dishes? The answer lies in the details. The blend of salt and black pepper gives it a savory kick, the minced garlic and olive oil merge to create a golden crust, and the white wine adds a subtle classiness. The tangy-fresh feel of lemon juice coupled with the richness of unsalted butter – it’s poetry on a plate. Finish it off with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and a lemon garnish, and you’ve got a dish that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious.

Inspired by Chef Alex Atala, known for infusing traditional Brazilian dishes with innovative spins, this recipe is my humble nod to his inventive culinary style.

The Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce pairs well with many classic side dishes. A fresh Caesar salad, roasted potatoes, or even a light pasta makes a great companion to the salmon. And if you’re a fan of New England’s creamy clam chowder like me, serving it alongside adds a touch of the familiar.

In the rich tapestry of dishes I’ve journeyed through, this recipe holds a special spot. It marries my love for seafood with the intriguing flavors of Brazilian cooking while keeping the homely comfort of an easy weeknight dinner. And that, my friends, is why I love the Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 lbs of Salmon fillets
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup of white wine
  • 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon slices for garnish
ALLERGENS: Fish (Salmon), Garlic, Wine (Sulphites), Butter (Dairy)

Method

Step One

Season the salmon fillets with salt and black pepper. Ensure to cover both sides of the fillets with the seasoning.

Step Two

Heat the olive oil in a grill pan over high heat. Add the salmon fillets to the pan, cooking each side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and slightly crispy. Once cooked set aside.

Step Three

In the same grill pan, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Stir this in for about a minute, be careful not to burn the garlic.

Step Four

Pour in the white wine and let this simmer for a couple of minutes until the alcohol evaporates. Following this, add the fresh lemon juice, stir and let it simmer.

Step Five

Now, add the unsalted butter. Stir well to combine all the flavors. Once the butter is melted and the sauce is heated through, sprinkle in the chopped fresh parsley and give it a final stir.

Step Six

Return the grilled salmon fillets to the pan and spoon some of the lemon sauce over the top. Allow the salmon to heat through in the sauce for about 1-2 minutes.

Step Seven

Finally, serve the grilled salmon fillets with some extra lemon sauce poured over the top and garnish with fresh lemon slices. Enjoy your Grilled Salmon with Lemon Sauce!
