What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups fresh Cempedak Seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onions, chopped
  • 1 Red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 Scallions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Flakes (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
ALLERGENS: Soy

Method

Step One

Start by preparing all the ingredients. Carefully rinse the 2 cups of fresh Cempedak Seeds and set them aside. Next mince the 4 cloves of garlic, chop the onions, dice the red bell pepper, and chop the scallions. Grate approximately 1 tablespoon of ginger. All the above-mentioned ingredients should be ready before you begin the stir-fry.

Step Two

Heat the 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir them constantly for about 30 seconds to a minute, until the garlic becomes fragrant.

Step Three

Add the chopped onions into the skillet or wok. Cook them until they become translucent, usually it takes about 5 minutes.

Step Four

Now it’s time to add the dice red bell pepper and chopped scallions into the pan. Stir fry them for another 2-3 minutes, until they become slightly softened.

Step Five

Introduce the Cempedak seeds to the mixture in the pan. Stir fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until they become golden brown and slightly crispy. Make sure that you stir them continuously to avoid burning the seeds.

Step Six

Add the 3 tablespoons of soy sauce into the mixture. Optionally, you can add 1 teaspoon of chili flakes if you prefer a bit of heat. Season with salt and ground black pepper according to your taste. Stir everything together well to ensure that the seeds and vegetables are evenly coated with the seasoning.

Step Seven

Continue to stir fry for another 2-3 minutes, allowing all the flavors to blend together. Once done, turn off the heat. Transfer your stir-fried Cempedak seeds to a serving dish and enjoy while hot.
