A Nourishing Dessert

The Catmon Pie not only offers a flavor explosion but also provides significant health-related benefits. Catmon is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and helps improve digestion, making this pie not just a scrumptiously satisfying dessert, but also a health booster. The mixed berries are another source of nutrients like Vitamin C and fiber.

This recipe also includes lemon juice and lemon zest, offering a subtle, citrusy freshness and greeting your tastebuds with a multi-faceted symphony of flavors. Plus, lemon is known for its detoxifying benefits and aid in digestion.

Marrying Global Flavors

The Catmon Pie is an exciting twist on traditional fruit pies like apple or berry pies. The unique pairing of tropical catmon with mixed berries immediately sets it apart. The flavors of this pie would pair well with a classic, creamy Southern custard like vanilla custard, a contrast that would complement the robust, tangy flavor of the Catmon Pie magically.

Alternatively, it may be enjoyed after a robust Tex-Mex feast, offering a refreshing and sweet ending to the meal. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not serve it with a side of Vanilla Ice Cream for a truly indulgent treat?

It’s time to don your apron and get ready to impress your guests with this unconventional yet tantalisingly delicious Catmon Pie.

Remember, there’s no greater joy than sharing food you’ve put your heart into, and I guarantee you, this Catmon Pie recipe has got mine all intertwined within its flavors.

What You’ll Need

  • 1.5 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 fresh catmon fruits (diced)
  • 1.5 cups of mixed berries (like strawberries, raspberries)
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 package (2 crusts) of refrigerated pie dough
  • 1 egg (beaten, for glazing)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
ALLERGENS: Wheat, Egg

Method

Step One

Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

Step Two

In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and all-purpose flour. Once those are mixed, add in the diced catmon fruits and mixed berries. Mix everything together gently, making sure the fruit is well coated with the sugar and flour mixture.

Step Three

Add the lemon juice and lemon zest to the fruit mixture. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.

Step Four

Unroll one of the pie crusts and fit it into a 9-inch pie plate. Spoon the fruit mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the top of the fruit filling with the small pieces of unsalted butter.

Step Five

Unroll the second pie crust and place it over the fruit filling. Fold the edges under and crimp them to seal the pie. Cut a few slits in the top crust to vent steam. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg, ensuring it’s evenly coated for a glossy finish once baked.

Step Six

Bake the pie in your preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly. If the edges of the crust start to brown too quickly, cover them with foil for the remaining baking time.

Step Seven

Once the pie is done baking, let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving. This allows the filling to set, making it easier to cut slices. Enjoy your delightful Catmon Pie!
