My fondness for the recipe, Grilled Melon Fruit Salad, comes from a deep-rooted love for fresh, vibrant flavors. As a boy, my Italian grandparents had a beautiful garden in New Jersey. Although the varieties of fruit we could grow were limited by the climate, they always had delicious fruit salads on their table during summer, making the most out of the seasonal bounty. This Grilled Melon Fruit Salad is my spin on a family tradition.
Heightened Flavors
Unlike traditional fruit salads, the grilling adds an unexpectedly delightful smoky twist to the melons. And when it’s paired with the tart awesomeness brought by the lime juice and honey, it creates a tantalizing dance of flavors in your mouth. Furthermore, the pinch of salt and black pepper really lifts the fruit’s sweetness, making it more pronounced without being overpowering. It’s a beautiful balance of sweet, tart, and savory.
The Health Factor
Being health-conscious, Grilled Melon Fruit Salad resonates with my lifestyle perfectly. Packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, this fruit medley serves not only as a refreshing snack, but also as a nourishment powerhouse. They says an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but I bet this fruit salad does the trick even better!
Besides, research has shown that diets abundant in fruits and veggies can lower the risk of heart diseases and certain types of cancer. With the trio of melons, strawberries, and blueberries, this salad definitely ticks all the right boxes. Also, did I mention that the melons provide a healthy dose of hydration too? Here is an interesting read on the health benefits of melons.

In all its glory, Grilled Melon Fruit Salad takes a simple concept, transforming it into a mouthwatering treat that’s healthy, flavorful, and a joy to make. It’s a true testament to family tradition meeting innovation at the dining table, one recipe at a time.
What You’ll Need
- 1 ripe cantaloupe
- 1 ripe honeydew melon
- 1 ripe watermelon
- 2 cups of fresh strawberries
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- Mint leaves for garnish
Method
Step One
Begin by thoroughly washing all the fruit under running water. Once cleaned, peel the cantaloupe and honeydew melon, and cut them into bite sized pieces. Cut the watermelon into similar sized pieces, ensuring to remove all seeds.
Step Two
For the strawberries, remove the stems and cut them into halves. Once all the fruit is cut, combine them in a large mixing bowl.
Step Three
Preheat the grill over medium heat. While waiting for the grill to heat up, skewer the melon chunks onto wooden or metal skewers.
Step Four
Once the grill is hot, place the skewers on the grates. Grill each skewer for about two to three minutes per side or until the melon pieces have nice grill marks.
Step Five
Remove the melon pieces from the grill and let them cool before adding them back into the bowl with the other fruits.
Step Six
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lime juice, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Pour this mixture over the fruit in the large bowl and gently toss to combine. Ensure all the fruit is coated with the dressing.
Step Seven
Once combined, cover the bowl with cling wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of two hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
Step Eight
Before serving, garnish with fresh mint leaves. Your refreshing grilled melon fruit salad is now ready to enjoy
