I can still recall the first time I tried Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam. It was a warm summer in Montana, the bison grazed at a track behind our house, and the huckleberries were ripe for picking. As a child, I loved exploring the unique fruits that grew in our locale. Among them was the Monstera Deliciosa fruit, also known as the Swiss cheese plant.

Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam

A Blend of Unique Flavors and Traditions

Packing a flavor punch that’s both tropical and unique, the Swiss Cheese fruit is anything but ordinary. Transformed into jam, it takes on a delectable combination of bananas, pineapples, and jackfruit. It was my later realization that this jam is surprisingly similar to the lemon jam I had come to love, adding an extra layer of depth to its vibrant, fruity flavor profile.

Health Benefits of Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam

Not only is Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam a culinary delight, it also carries significant health benefits. The Swiss Cheese plant is rich in Vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, components that are known to boost the immune system, maintain a healthy heart and aid in digestion, respectively.

I’d often pair this intriguing jam with a slab of buttered sourdough or stirred into yogurt to provide a unique fruity element. However, it also works perfectly as a glaze, opening the doors to an exciting range of barbecue and roast options. I fondly remember slathering it over a venison steak, a delightful echo of the flavors I had grown up eating.

Whether it’s accompanying your morning toast or being the secret ingredient in your barbecue marinade, this Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam is hard to go unnoticed. It’s a taste of my childhood, of Montana’s vast landscapes, and of the adventurous urge that keeps pushing me to discover new flavors.

What You’ll Need

  • 2 cups of ripe Monstera Deliciosa fruit
  • 2 cups of white sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of pectin
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Zest of 1 lemon
ALLERGENS: None

Method

Step One

Firstly, peel the ripe Monstera Deliciosa fruit and carefully remove the seeds. Chop the fruit into small, manageable pieces.

Step Two

In a large pot, combine the chopped Monstera Deliciosa fruit, white sugar, lemon juice, pectin, and water. Stir continuously over medium heat until all of the sugar has completely dissolved.

Step Three

Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for about 10 minutes, and continue to stir occasionally to prevent the bottom from burning.

Step Four

After boiling, reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer. During this time, add the lemon zest and stir it into the mixture. Allow the jam to simmer for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Step Five

Remove the jam from the heat and let it cool slightly. Transfer it into sterilized jam jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Seal the jars tightly.

Step Six

Finally, to ensure the jam is preserved, process the jars in a water bath canner for at least 10 minutes. Allow them to cool completely, then check the seals to make sure they are tight. Store in a cool, dark place and enjoy your homemade Monstera Deliciosa Fruit Jam when desired!
