There’s no denying my love affair with the Akebi Fruit Smoothie. This recipe, with its unique fusion of Afro-Southern delights, embodies that eclectic spirit beautifully.

Akebi Fruit Smoothie

The Blending of Cultures

Within each sip of this Akebi Fruit Smoothie, you’ll discover the symphony of cultures at play. Akebi, a beautifully weird fruit popular in Japan, brings a subtle, sweet hint that blends remarkably well with the tropical notes of pineapple. The strawberries, a darling of southern orchards, add a tangy twist, while the robust creaminess of the classic American vanilla yogurt ties everything together. What you get is a delightful concoction – a puree of cultural crossroads, if you will.

The Health Rewards

Not only it’s a refreshing treat, this smoothie also brims with nutritional benefits. Akebi fruit is known to be an excellent source of essential minerals including magnesium, potassium, and copper; it contributes to heart health, aids in digestion and carries anti-inflammatory properties. Pineapple and strawberries, beside their delightful flavors, pack good amounts of vitamin C and antioxidants. You can find more about Akebi’s health benefits here.

Moving beyond the soul-strumming notes of flavor and promise of health, the Akebi Fruit Smoothie evokes an undeniable sense of comfort – the kind you would associate with a leisurely Sunday brunch. Almost magically, it echoes the essence of an allencompassing feast, complete with a bowlful of creamy, vanilla-scented Yogurt Pudding with Strawberries and Macaroons.

To sum it up, I love the Akebi Fruit Smoothie for the delicious journey it represents, and the memories it unknowingly evokes. It’s not just a recipe – it’s a testament to the harmonious fusion of cultures, the weaving together of my roots with the gastronomic delights of my homeland, and an ode to a dedicated pursuit of healthful, delicious living.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 Akebi fruits
  • 3 cups of vanilla yogurt
  • 2 cups of ice cubes
  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup of fresh strawberry, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoon of honey (optional)
ALLERGENS: Milk, Strawberries

Method

Step One

Start by preparing your fruits. For the akebi fruits, cut them in half lengthwise and scoop out the white pulp inside. Be sure to place the pulp in a separate bowl. Hull and halve your strawberries and cut your pineapple into chunks, removing any hard core.

Step Two

Proceed by placing the akebi fruit pulp, pineapple chunks, strawberry halves into your blender. Now add the 3 cups of vanilla yogurt. Blend the fruits and yogurt until they form a smooth, creamy mixture. This should take about 2-3 minutes on a high setting.

Step Three

Next, add in your 2 cups of ice cubes and blend again until the mixture is smooth and creamy. This will give your smoothie a nice, cool temperature and a thicker consistency.

Step Four

Finally, add in your cup of sweetened condensed milk. This will give your akebi fruit smoothie its sweetness. Continue to blend the smoothie until all ingredients are well combined. If you prefer your smoothie a little sweeter, add the 2 tablespoons of honey and blend again.

Step Five

Your akebi fruit smoothie is now done! Pour it into glasses, garnish with a slice of fruit if you’d like, and enjoy this sweet, creamy, and refreshing drink.
