Apricot Preserve and Walnut Baked Brie

A Twist on Traditional Gujarati Cuisine

At its core, the recipe for Apricot Preserve and Walnut Baked Brie is a testament to my passion for Indian-American fusion cooking. Inspired by the sweet and savory components that define Gujarati cuisine, I’ve adapted this traditionally European dish with flavors reminiscent of my Indian roots. A hint of sweet, a touch of tang – it’s a bite-sized bundle of culinary harmony that seamlessly blends two distinct food cultures.

A Taste Sensation Packed with Goodness

But this appetizer isn’t just a delicious and easy way to start a meal; it’s also deceptively wholesome. Brie, the star of this dish, is known for its high protein content and is chock-full of essential vitamins and minerals. Walnuts, a superfood, provide a good chunk of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and fiber. Apricots, of course, bring a zest of vitamin A and C, strengthening your body’s immunity – a guilt-free indulgence, indeed! (source)

In terms of what this dish might pair well with, consider serving this as a starter to a hearty main dish. Popular suggestions include Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken) or a western main dish like a juicy Roast Chicken with Bread and Arugula Salad.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 package (8 ounces) of Brie cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of apricot preserves
  • 1/3 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 baguette or cracker of your choice for serving
ALLERGENS: Brie cheese, walnuts, wheat (in baguette or cracker)

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step Two

Place the Brie cheese on a baking sheet or a baking dish. Make sure the baking sheet is lined with parchment paper for easier clean-up.

Step Three

Spread the apricot preserves evenly over the top of the Brie cheese. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top of the preserves and then sprinkle the brown sugar over the walnuts.

Step Four

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the Brie cheese starts to ooze and the sugar has melted. Try to keep an eye on the oven because baking times can vary depending on the oven and the size of the cheese.

Step Five

Once the Brie is out of the oven, let it cool down for a few minutes, then serve it with your chosen baguette or crackers. Enjoy your delicious Apricot Preserve and Walnut Baked Brie!
