As a boy growing up in Nebraska, the simple pleasures of eating straight from our farms is an experience I’ve carried into my modern-day culinary creations. Today, I want to share some of that wholesome goodness with a refreshing twist, the luscious Aratiles and Strawberry Smoothie – a smoothie that embodies not just my Midwestern roots, but also the vibrant freshness of tropical delights.
The Uber-Fresh Blend
This fruit-packed delicacy echoes the spirit of the Caribbean with the inclusion of Aratiles, also known as Jamaican cherries. Tasting like a mix of cotton candy and candy apple, combined with fresh strawberries, this smoothie is a splendid celebration of summer. This reminds me of those warmer days in hot July, when we’d be surrounded by fresh produce back at the farm.
With Aratiles known for its rich antioxidant properties and strawberries being a bonafide source of Vitamin C and fiber. This decent of a smoothie is one healthy concoction you’d love to sip all day long.
Nutrition and Taste in Harmony
The soothing flavor of almond milk and natural sweetness from honey blends perfectly with these unique fruits, creating a smoothie experience that is not only delicious but caters to your health as well. Almond milk is an excellent source of calcium, making it suitable for those on a dairy-free diet while honey serves as a natural preservative and sweetener.
If you’re familiar with the traditional Berry and Spinach Smoothie or the robust taste of a Strawberry and Banana Smoothie, the Aratiles and Strawberry Smoothie will be an intriguing exploration of flavors. It could also be an excellent accompaniment to lighter meals like a fresh Caprese Salad or Lemon Grilled Chicken.
As someone aiming to build a big family, I like to come up with recipes that not only are nutritionally beneficial but also promote a fun and caters to everyone in the family. This Aratiles and Strawberry Smoothie does that perfectly. It’s something that is loved by youngsters for its natural sweetness and enjoyed by adults for its fresh and healthy twist. Truly, it’s a smoothie that our dining table in Nebraska would welcome and maybe even you would too!
What You’ll Need
- 3 cups of Aratiles (Jamaican Cherry)
- 2 cups of fresh Strawberries
- 1 1/2 cups of Almond Milk
- 1/4 cup of Honey (or to taste)
- 2 cups of crushed Ice
- 6 fresh Mint Leaves (optional for garnish)
Method
Step One
Start by washing the Aratiles (Jamaican Cherry) and Strawberries thoroughly. Remove the stems from the strawberries and the seeds from the Aratiles.
Step Two
Once your fruits are prepared, put them into your blender. Then add your Almond Milk to the blender. If you like your smoothies a little sweeter, add your Honey at this stage.
Step Three
Now, it’s time to blend your ingredients. Start your blender on a low setting and gradually increase it to high. This will ensure that all your ingredients are thoroughly mixed and that your smoothie has a nice and smooth consistency.
Step Four
Add your crushed Ice to the blender and blend once more until everything is well combined. If your smoothie is too thick, you can add a little more Almond Milk to get it to your preferred consistency.
Step Five
Pour your Aratiles and Strawberry Smoothie into glasses. If you’re using Mint Leaves for garnish, now’s the time to add them. Simply place them on top of your smoothies, serve and enjoy!
