One of my all-time favorites, the unique Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce is a taste adventure that teases the palate with a blend of tropical fruits, spicy peppers, and tangy notes. Envisage a splash of orange and lime juices, the exotic sweetness of guava jam; such a medley culminates in an innovative sauce, successfully reinventing the idea of traditional BBQ sauces.
Flavorful Fusion
Having spent my childhood in Montana, I’ve always had an affinity for blending flavors from various terrains and cultures. This Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce reflects my love for experimenting and melding disparate, yet complementary flavors into a harmonious whole. It gives a nod to my love for Native American traditions of utilizing nature’s bounty and the rancher’s favorite robust flavors.
A Healthful Treat
Aside from its mouth-watering flavors, this sauce is notable for its health benefits. It’s a balance of the earthy intense flavor of garlic, known for its immune-boosting properties, and the zest of citrus fruits like oranges and lime, packed with Vitamin C.
Delectable Pairings
This savory and tangy Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce isn’t just a topping, it is veritably a flavor enhancer. While it works wonders on traditional BBQ staples like ribs and chicken, it’s also a delectable accompaniment to my signature venison steak or bison burger. The fruit-based sauce offers a delectable contrast to the gamey flavors of the meat.
A tangier, spicier cousin to the classic BBQ sauce, the Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce also bears likeness to Ralph’s Kansas City-Style BBQ Sauce with its balanced blend of sweet and tart flavors. However, it boasts a tropical zest that sets it apart and makes it a crowd-pleaser.
So whether you’re planning a backyard barbecue, a ranch-style feast, or simply a family dinner with a twist, infuse it with a taste of the tropics and a hint of Montana wilderness. It’s time your mouth experienced the magic that is Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce. Bon Appétit!
What You’ll Need
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1 cup guava jam
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped Brazilian pepper (or jalapenos for a less spicy option)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Method
Step One
Combine the orange juice, lime juice, and guava jam in a bowl. Stir until the jam is fully dissolved. Set this mixture aside for later use.
Step Two
Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the oil is warm, add the finely chopped onion. Sauté the onion until it becomes translucent.
Step Three
Add the minced garlic and chopped Brazilian pepper (or jalapenos for a less spicy option) to the saucepan. Continue sautéing until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Step Four
Pour in the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce into the saucepan. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Step Five
Add the orange juice, lime juice, and guava jam mixture to the saucepan. Again, stir well to incorporate everything together.
Step Six
Season the sauce with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir the sauce until the spices are fully blended.
Step Seven
Allow the sauce to simmer over low heat for about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.
Step Eight
Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove the saucepan from heat. Let the Brazilian Pepper BBQ Sauce cool before using, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later use.
