It’s safe to say that every recipe holds a certain charm for a chef, but there are always certain dishes that rise above the rest. I feel the Finger Lime Cheesecake is one such recipe that truly manages to combine my admiration for the diverse natural bounty of the Pacific Northwest and my deep-rooted love for Japanese simplicity and elegance. Can’t you just envision the luscious layers of our Finger Lime Cheesecake? If not, here’s an image that does justice to this vibrant and zesty treat.
A Fusion of Two Worlds
Incorporating the tangy finger limes, a quintessential Australian native fruit, into a classic American cheesecake breathes new life into a beloved dessert. This recipe is akin to my sushi rolls where I blend Pacific Northwestern ingredients with Japanese techniques. The fusion provides an exquisite harmony of flavor, with the richness of the cream cheese beautifully counteracting the tartness of the finger limes. It is reminiscent of the simplicity and minimalist elegance often found in Japanese cuisine.
Unleashing a Healthy Indulgence
But it’s not just the aesthetic and the flavor profile that enamors me; the health benefits of our Finger Lime Cheesecake make this dessert a guilt-free indulgence. Finger limes are packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants. They have been associated with improved immunity and heart health. By marrying cream cheese, a good source of Vitamin A and B2, and the antioxidant prowess of finger limes, this cheesecake nourishes your body while delighting your palate.
This cheesecake stands tall on its own as a dessert but can be paired beautifully with a light, crisp white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc. This cheese-lover’s favorite wine accentuates the creamy richness of the cake while the citrus notes echo the tanginess of the finger limes.
Through this recipe, I am able to express my passion for harmonizing traditional tastes with new, exciting flavors and sharing love through food. So dig into this delicious Finger Lime Cheesecake and experience a piece of my culinary journey. I assure you, it’s a journey that’s as delightful as the destination.
What You’ll Need
- 2 cups of Graham crackers crumbs
- 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 16 ounces of cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of finger lime juice
- 1 tablespoon of finger lime zest
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup of finger lime caviar (for topping)
Method
Step One
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Step Two
Mix Graham cracker crumbs, melted butter and 3 tablespoons granulated sugar together in a bowl until fully combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a springform pan to form the base of the cheesecake.
Step Three
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it becomes smooth. Gradually add 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, continuing to beat until fully combined.
Step Four
Beat in the sour cream, and then add the eggs one at a time, making sure to beat well after each addition. Stir in the finger lime juice, finger lime zest and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Step Five
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the base in the springform pan, spreading it out evenly. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about one hour or until the center is set.
Step Six
While the cheesecake is baking, heat heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the white chocolate chips until fully melted and combined.
Step Seven
Once the cheesecake is done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove the sides of the pan and allow the cheesecake to cool completely. Pour the white chocolate ganache over the cooled cheesecake and spread it out evenly.
Step Eight
Refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight. Just before serving, sprinkle the finger lime caviar over the top of the cheesecake for garnish. Enjoy your homemade Finger Lime Cheesecake!
