Fresh on my list of all-time favorite dishes is a fruit-based delicacy that blends the Caribbean flavors of your dreams with a surprise Brazilian twist, the delightful Grilled Chicken with Jabuticaba Glaze. This dish is just a match made in culinary heaven and it does a pretty amazing job dancing between the rich flavors of the jabuticaba berries and the perfectly grilled chicken. As someone with a love for culinary adventures, this recipe has a special place in my heart and kitchen.
A Rendezvous with Jabuticaba
Few things bring me as much joy as the magic of melding together diverse, vibrant flavors in one dish. And the Grilled Chicken with Jabuticaba Glaze is a prime example of this magic. Named after the exotic berry native to Brazil, jabuticaba adds a unique tropical flair. This berry is a super fruit, with a reputation to boost digestive health, heart health, and loaded with antioxidants.
A Tropical Twist to a Classic
Jabuticaba’s exotic flavor might bring to mind a gorgeous tropical evening, maybe sipping on a mojito, and bite-sized tapas. Grilled Chicken with Jabuticaba Glaze shares a gourmet camaraderie with such tapas classics like Pinchos Morunos or garlic shrimp. Also, if you are in a mood for a delightful chicken dinner, try pairing it with a vibrant salad, such as a classic Ensalada Mixta – the crisp refreshing greens will cut through the jabuticaba glaze just right.
This recipe is more than a dish, it’s a celebration of culinary diversity, dancing between familiar and exotic notes, making it both comforting and exciting. One taste of the Grilled Chicken with Jabuticaba Glaze, and it will be clear why this recipe holds such a special place in my gastronomic journey.
What You’ll Need
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 cup of jabuticaba berries
- 1 tablespoon of finely chopped garlic
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of cold water
Method
Step One
Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt, and pepper to taste.
Step Two
Heat olive oil in a large grill pan over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook on each side for 5-7 minutes or until fully cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step Three
To the same pan, add the jabuticaba berries and chopped garlic. Cook over medium heat until the berries start to pop and release their juice.
Step Four
Add brown sugar and apple cider vinegar to the pan. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Step Five
In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch with cold water. Stir until there are no lumps.
Step Six
Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the pan, stirring constantly. Continue to stir until the sauce thickens to a glaze consistency.
Step Seven
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and coat with the jabuticaba glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Step Eight
Serve the grilled chicken with an extra spoonful of jabuticaba glaze on top. Enjoy your meal!
