Envelope your senses with the exquisitely simple yet profound essence of my treasured Guava Jam recipe. With roots tracing back to my Cuban and Spanish origin, this recipe encompasses the heart of Caribbean flair with the sophistication of Spanish charm. Immerse yourself in the alluring, sweet aroma of guava, softly enlivened by a splash of lemon juice. Imagine the sun-kissed skin of these tropical gems being lovingly turned into a sumptuous spread that never fails to transport me back to the warmth of my grandmother’s kitchen. No dish captures the essence of my sunny Miami background quite like this one.

The Sweet Dance of Guava Jam

Similar to the rhythmic dance styles I teach, the making of Guava Jam involves a delicate balance between slow, stirring movements and lively, swift motions. Each ingredient some may see as ordinary, transforms into a harmonious blend, much like how a dancer becomes one with the rhythm. In the dance of cooking, granulated sugar and water meld with the guava pulp in a simmering waltz, spun to perfection with a twirl of fruit pectin. The thinly veiled tartness of lemon juice adds the final plié, culminating in a stunning performance of flavors in your mouth, a taste spectacle worthy of an encore.

Health Benefits of Guava Jam

Not just a feast for the senses, this jam also offers a multitude of health benefits. Guavas, besides being utterly delicious, are highly nutritious powerhouses. Packed with antioxidants, Vitamin C, and fiber, this tropical delicacy aids digestion, improves skin quality, and supports a healthy immune system. The addition of lemon juice not only lifts the flavor but also aids in absorption of the guava’s nutrients.

Guava Jam, despite its exotic air, is remarkably versatile. Some ways to enjoy it include spreading it on a warm, crusty baguette, pairing it with cheese for an updated take on a classic tapa, or dolloping onto vanilla ice cream for a sweet, tropical twist. With countless ways to savour this exotic delicacy, there’s absolutely no doubt that my much-loved Guava Jam recipe has continually been stealing the show in my culinary journey, and I’m confident it will in yours too.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 cups guava pulp
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fruit pectin
ALLERGENS:

Method

Step One

Start by gathering all your ingredients. You will need 3 cups of guava pulp, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 2.5 cups of granulated sugar, 0.5 cup of water, and 1 teaspoon of fruit pectin.

Step Two

Take the 3 cups of guava pulp and put it in a blender. Blend until it is a smooth puree. You want it to be completely smooth without any chunks.

Step Three

Place the guava pulp into a large pot. Add the 0.5 cup of water to the pot. Turn the heat on to medium and stir the water and guava pulp together until well mixed.

Step Four

Now add the 2.5 cups of granulated sugar into the pot. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved. This could take several minutes.

Step Five

Add the 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and stir it into the mixture. The lemon juice will help brighten the flavor of the guava.

Step Six

Sprinkle the 1 teaspoon of fruit pectin over the mixture in the pot. Using a whisk, mix it well into the guava mixture. The pectin will help the jam set and thicken.

Step Seven

Lower the heat to a simmer and let the mixture cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally. The mixture should thicken into a jam consistency. Once it has thickened, remove the pot from the heat and let cool.

Step Eight

Pour the cooled jam into sterilized jars. Seal the jars tightly and store the jam in a cool, dark place or refrigerate for immediate use. Enjoy your homemade guava jam.
