I guess you could say it’s a bit of an amped-up, Afro-infused nod to my southern roots, where the fondness of fruit-based beverages runs deep. In a similar vein, guava, with its luscious tropical notes, pays homage to my Nigerian heritage.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 cups guava nectar
  • 3 cups white tequila
  • 1 cup triple sec
  • 8 cups crushed ice
  • 6 slices fresh guava for garnish
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup margarita salt
  • 6 lime wedges

Method

Step One

Start by combining the fresh lime juice, guava nectar, white tequila and triple sec in a large pitcher.

Step Two

In a small plate, mix the granulated sugar and margarita salt. Then, run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass and dip the rims into sugar and salt mixture.

Step Three

Fill the glasses with crushed ice, then pour the margarita mixture over the ice in each glass.

Step Four

Garnish each glass with a slice of fresh guava and a lime wedge.

Step Five

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Guava Margarita.
